This is either the door sensing switch (most likely) or a bad membrane switch [start switch] (that's what Panasonic calls it) on the touch pad. The contacts on the door sensing switch can be slightly contaminated and not read "zero ohms" to the control PCB. The control board thinks that the door is open and it will not allow the cook cycle to start.

You have a failed membrane keypad.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

The best place to order Panasonic parts is Tritronics. You can also call them at 866-779-5835.

If you would like to have us do this for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part costs.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your model number) for more information & help.

SOURCE: Panasonic Microwave SD697S quit cooking and has

HI, this will require the skilled hands of a qualified Panasonic tech. The damaged part here is the Magnetron assembly. this is a very sensitive part that creates radiation and the heating process as well. you will need to replace this device asap if possible...

SOURCE: Hi, I have a Panasonic

Hi Judith, I am Kelly

If this has a 1 year warranty it is time to make that call.

Otherwise see this link about H97 or H98 codes: http://www.applianceaid.com/micro_faultcodes.html#panasonic

There are a few things that can cause the problem, none of them cheap repairs. The Magnetron filament, Control board and Inverter are the top 3 other than a losse connection.

I tried running the Model number NN-SN9688 and it does not cross. See Panasonic link here: http://www2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/PNAEndecaSearchCmd?N=779832097&Ne=&No=0&Nr=12001&Ns=&Ntk=SupportSearch&URL=vSupportSearch&cmTag=true&catalogId=11017&storeId=15001&cm_sp=SiteSearch-_-SupportSearch-_-SupportHome&Ntt=NN-SN9688&x=28&y=20

I did not go to Panasonic Global and try other countries. I just did a USA search.

Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Panasonic microwave convection oven model NN-CD997S works normal but stop heating

Judging from the model and without looking it up I expect that unit has an inverter. If it is not the Switches and you have replaced the mag, the inverter is the power supply for the mag to work so either mag not getting power from inverter or inverter not getting signals from main PCB Timer board.

Stopped heating, shuts off before time expires

My panasonic microwave model # NN-S540BFW stops after 4 seconds after you hit the start button and cuts off on its own. What is wrong with my microwave?

Shuts off but everything else works

If the digital programmer circuit / controller does not get a feedback signal from the inverter for a period of 3 seconds, the controller will stop the cook cycle.

If it stops after 22 seconds, that means the controller has detected a problem, usually a problem with the inverter or a bad magnetron.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.

You can find an authorized Panasonic servicer here.
