No, you could try to vacuum out the fan area which should remove any dust\hair\fluff which maybe heating up and causing the smell
You really need to give the laptop a good sniff though to properly ascertain where the odor is coming from

The smell is
from the motor that is bad and needs replacement, the hum/buzz sound itself
indicates that the problem is with the motor, don't think it is the start
