make sure that their is no cd in the drive and try booting in safe mode by hitting the function key F8 and choosing safe mode and if it works then shut it down and restart it again. good luck.

There is no specific wiring for eMachine. your wiring goes from power supply (big box with fan) to motherboard (large board with many components) to hard drive, cd rom, fan, etc. pretty easy to figure out if you look closely

To get a wiring diagram you would have to get it from E-Machines. If you mean a manual- you can get that from their website in the support section.

must be easier to move the hd to a hd-caseing and start transfer to a another computer......to much time-consuming.

Do a Google search for " emachine t5224 manual", and get one. The manual should contain the wiring diagram showing how all components and cables are connected to the motherboard.

mrmadgbull, How long will e17tg display the WIN-desktop before it goes to BLACK screen? Is it 1, 2 ...4, 5.....20 seconds? How old is unit? Does unit have internal ac to dc SMPS or external (lay on floor) SMPS? Did problem occur suddenly? What do you see on screen after "it" goes black and you shine a bright flashlight 1 inch from screen? Can you still see some icons being faintly displayed?? Is unit out of it's warranty period? If lcd panel is both black and blank, "switch-mode-power-supply" could be in full shutdown mode. If you see desktop, SMPS is in partial shutdown mode. You or electronics technician will need to evaluate and repair unit. Read my FIXYA profile for more options you may have open to you. Your monitor no different than any other "cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamp" backlit LCD monitor. There is a lot of DIY videos on YOUTUBE that deal with this type of monitor problem. Lots of tech types pick-up "black screen" lcd monitors at resale shops and refurbish them for less than $20 total cost, and they will work for another 2 -4 years. Do your research before making hasty decisions. If pocket is deep with disposable income, then just use e17tg as trade-in for new wide screen. Hope this was of some help. 12fixlouie

No wiring diagram! You should consult a good "how to build a computer" book or take it in for servicing. If its new in box then take it back to the store!

You should be able to see the words/letters that go with the jumpers on the motherboard itself. look around the jumper settings area for power, pwr etc. and match them up with your jumpers which should have what the go to on them.

If you are replacing the power supply and it has 4 pin 12v conector and your motherboard doesn't, just disregard the 4 pin plug. The 20 pin conector will supply sufficient power for the processor. Many of the older motherboards did not have a separate 12v supply for the processor.
