Best way to restart it from wake up is remove the battery (if it is a laptop) or push the power button for at least 10 seconds (or more) until you can't see any lights at all or any sound from the hard drive. That is the only way you can restart the computer if it is not waking up from sleep mode.
Is there an actual button on your keyboard that is the sleep button? Or did you put it to sleep within Windows?
If you pressed the sleep button on your keyboard, you should be able to press that button again, and it should wake up. If you pressed it within Windows, then pressing any key should wake it up.
If neither of those works, then sometimes you need to press the power button. Don't hold it down, just press it, and your computer should wake up.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for using FixYa.
If it is in sleep pressing any key or moving the mouse will generally wake it up. If you left the computer unplugged in sleep mode then it most likely ran out of power. If your using hibernate I would recommend not using it as it has so many issues.... :) If you have to hit the power button to wake it up then it's either shutdown or in hibernate. FYI there will generally be an amber light on to indicate sleep mode. If no lights it's most likely not in sleep mode. Comment if you need additional assistance.
On most computers, you can resume working by pressing your computer's power button. However, not all computers are the same. You might be able to wake your computer by pressing any key on the keyboard, clicking a mouse button, or opening the lid on a laptop.
It just need an interruption to wake from the sleep mode so its perfectly ok to do so by any key or by the power key....
Normally when you put your computer to sleep with your keyboard you only have to press a key on the keyboard to wake the computer again. I normally use my spacebar to wake my pc but any key should work fine.
Your computer needs a fully function chipset driver for it to work. You can install the driver from the support disc of the motherboard. This features stand by mode, sleep/wake and power on using your keyboard. You should configure also your computer bios. Go to Power Management section of the BIOS.
