Our C220c shredder does not shred, motor turns and blades turn but i think the blades are blunt. Can you get new ones or have the old blades sharpened?

There are 2 shafts that have the cutting blades on them and they both should turn. I have replaced many gears on this model and suspect that a gear is broken. Fellowes does not have many parts this model anymore. I would call a local shredder repair service or you can call Fellowes at 800-955-0959.

What does the owners manusl tell you that the page limit is? Do not exceed it, and maybe just reduce it by one page at a time until you get the proper shred. Can not be sharpened. It would be cheaper to buy a new shredder.

SOURCE: shrededer motor remains on after shredding is complete

Blow out the sensors with some compressed air.(Computer Duster) they are likely covered in paper dust and the machine believes paper is present.
Please be sure to unplug the machine before attempting any sort of repairs
Hope this is of some help

SOURCE: od700c shredder: motor spinds, blades don't move

Inside the motor assembly there are a series of nylon cogs , a large one of which interacts with a metal one.  This is the most likely place you have one or two teeth missing from the large nylon cog that drives the shredder blades.

I have a Royal Mp220 paper shredder the motor hums when you put the paper to the blades it doesn't shredd the blades do not turn .

To begin with I'll explain that I'm not familiar with your shredder at all, but what you describe might be the same thing I've seen on other shredders. Many actually have a second hidden switch which serves as an interlock to make sure the unit is properly seated in the catch basket. In most cases its located a corner and the catch basket actually has a small shelf to press the micro switch in that location. I'd suggest you examine the bottom side of the shredder to see if you can see a small switch that also needs to be pressed.

My shredder has the sound like it is working, but it is not shredding.

From your description, it sounds like when you insert the paper the motor turns on, but the paper is not pulled into the shredder, indicating the two shredder cylinders are not turning. The most likely cause of this is a stripped (missing teeth) main nylon gear. These can be replaced but require some effort.

Makes noise blades don't move

you have some teeth missing off of one of the gears, most likely the dual gear thats driven by the motor.

ROYAL RL170MX Shredder won't shred

Did you ever put shredder oil onto the cutting blades?????
The blades can clog with paper dust and then it can't shred as many papges as it should or even jam completely...you should occasionally shred a sheet of paper with shredder oil poured onto the sheet.

My paper shredder stopped working

First things First...UNPLUG THE UNIT. It sounds like it has been fed too many pages at one time. You may also want to dump any shredded paper so there is plenty of room for the shredder blades to pull in the paper. If the paper catcher is too full the blades can grab shreds from the bottom and stop the blades movement. Just be careful. Shredders can be dangerous.

Paper stuck in the Fellows Paper Shredder

  1. Remove Shredder from paper catcher bin
  2. Remove shredder cover from shredding mechanism assemble (approx. 6 screws on bottom of cover)
  3. Separate shredding mechanism from bottom cover (may have disconnect circuit board from assembly and other wiring from switches , sensors, etc,)
  4. Remove motor gear cover (approx. 4 screws)
  5. Separate shedder main drive gear from motor step up gear by pulling gear out
  6. Turn shredder mechanism up side down to access the cutting blades
  7. Use an adjustable wrench to turn the main drive gear to see stuck paper
  8. Use a needle noise pliers to remove paper shreds
  9. Repeat step 7 and 8 until all shreds are remove and cutting mechanism move smoothly
  10. Reassembly before testing shredder
  11. If you remove only some of the shreds, the motor may seize up and strip the plastic gears from step up gear.

Paper Shredder blades do not turn, even though motor is running

yes, it's the plastic gear that's shredded in this shredder. the drive gear on the motor is metal, as are the gears attached to blades. between is a single plastic gear which is chewed up the instant resistance is great enough. fabulous engineering. not a difficult fix, but where does one find the replacement part?
