Question about Mitsubishi WS-55807 TV

1 Answer

Corroded Board We have two Mitsubishi giant TVs; 1).a WS 55807 and 2). a VS 5051. About two years ago, the WS 55807 went off and was never attended because of the arrival of the VS 5051. Then we encountered problem with the VS 50551 and decided to have both repaired. I was shocked to find corroded Board of the WS 55807, probably caused by mice urine who found a home inside the box. Where and how could I possibly acquire new or a good surplus replacement board for this model, WS 55897. The rest of its parts are still in very good condition. The other TV, a Mitsubishi VS 5051 who suddenly went off, diagnosed later as caused by leaks on the coolant liquid of its green lens. The horizontal picture no longer straight by wavy or going up. A "technical expert" was more worried on the damaged done on the part of the board affected by the said leak, suggesting to clean that part with acetone or denatured alcohol. Still the problem exist. Should we replenish the lost coolant liquid? What is this liquid? How do we acquire it? What could be the minimum quantity of this coolant for the lens to function satisfactorily? Thank you for taking time to address these questions on my two TVs. Best regards, Expi Flores

The best place for board repair or replace is PTS 1-800-844-7871 Yes you would need to fill the CRT's fluid level back up. The liquid is Glycnol(Liquid anti-freeze) Poisonious yes is swallowed! So take precautions. You can get if from places like MCM electronics, Tritronics, bluestar-online.com, etc. It's called CRT coolant fluid. Yes and you would need to fix leak, probably a gasket or seal. Hope this helps!

I need a picture tube for my mitsubishi vs-5051 40in projection tv, how much do they generally cost? whats a good website or store in my area of manor texas?

Honestly, sorry to give you the bad news and I'm one for trying to repair then throw out but, buy a new 42" flat panel it will be a lot cheaper. Mitsubishi quite making these size CRT's over 5 years ago and a replacement tube would cost more than buying a new replacement 42" TV.
My thoughts is that this 5051 is over 13 years old.

Won't come on

The power board has failed and will need to be repaired or replaced. you can remove this board and, replace individual parts and save a lot of money. You will be inspecting for swollen capacitors and resistors. also, look for discolorations on the board itself.
