Running un-evenly Hello all, my truck runs un-evenly, before it used to play up on the motorway as i was about to do 80km it started missing, i had it serviced for $600.00, my wife took it for me to have it serviced, a month and a half later it started missing again, then my wife said "Oh yeah! thats right! the mechanic said one of the spark plug THINGIES need swapping? or was it changing or replacing?, something like that!", "i told him(my wife) oh its ok dont worry about it", my reply was, ARE YOU #%&*~: FOR REAL!, my wife smiled kissed me on the cheek and took my wallet out of my pocket and took my credit card and spent $500.00 on shoping and $300.00 on herself and a 4Litre pack of oil for me, i got used to that spare room. PLEASE HELP

Hi, Sounds like the truck is the least of your troubles. Take it back yourself and get the "Thingies" replaced. As for the rest of it, I Think you could get her a card with (Just Because) on the front. Don't tell her its just because you don't want to stay in the spare room anymore. Make sure it has some mushy stuff in the card. Make a little note inviting her on a date to a nice restaurant. Red Lobster or something. In my case, it would say something like.... Sorry about the little truck misunderstanding. I will try to be the one that takes it for service the next time. I have made reservations at the local Waffle House for this evening and would be delighted if you would join me in a make up time celebration..... Or something like that. Anyway, I think that if you spent $100 on a good meal with her it might actually save you some and get you back where you would like to be. Hope this helps. Thingies for the truck, $200. A bottle of wine, $30. A good meal at a steak house $70. Being able to get out of the spare bedroom, PRICELESS........ kstfas

Sounds like it. Are your plugs sooting up? Does it smell over-rich? Has fuel consumption got worse?
First thing I would do is check the air filter. If it, or the air intake pipes are blocked or restricted then not enough air is getting in to form the correct air/fuel mixture. This means that even if the mixture setting is correct for normal running, the correct amount of fuel is being delivered but cannot combust efficiently with the reduced amount of air creating an over rich mixture.
If all is as it should be then spray carb cleaner into the air intake (engine running, air filter out) in short bursts. The engine will stutter as the cleaner runs through the system so be prepared to blip the throttle to keep it running. When it runs smooth again, another burst of carb cleaner, blip until smooth again and repeat a few times. This will clean out the jets and deposits in the carb and may help.
As you used the word motorway instead of highway, I am guessing you are in the UK and not US. In which case don't buy the cleaner from Halfords as motor factors are way way cheaper (£2 instead of a fiver a can).

Car losing power
maybe a clogged filter.. why 2 months? it has old gas in it..gas does evaporate to a degree..looses some of its power creating capability.. the mtbe additive is an extreme evaporative.. it will evaporate out very quickly.. remember all fuel tanks have a vent tube on them..

Diesel fault finding
Difficult to say here without looking myself ,suspect that you may need to bleed the fuel system thats all you need to do but did the oil light come on ,not the engine light but the oil can symbol if so you may have damaged the engine but it should still start even if the bottom end of the engine is making a banging noise.What did the garage say when it wouldnt start?

AC compressor put load on engine causing engine shake vibrate.but check make sure AC compressor mounting bolts tight and drive belt correct tension.now if AC compressor very old most time bad compressor cause more load on engine causing shaking real bad.

Diesel engine "loping"
I haven't played with too many diesels,but many cause of a miss are similar.If it doesn't miss all the time,then I think you can rule out a compression problem(at least as far as rings/piston/cylinder).You could have a valve sticking,or maybe a plugged injector.Not sure of a good way to figure out which cylinder is missing,maybe someone else could give you an answer to this on here.(You could check for a sticking valve by running it with the valve cover off,I suppose).

well if you have a check engine light pull the codes, but the way you're explaining it you prolly have a miss on one of you cylinders. Pull the code but you will wanna look into replacing your spark plugs and wires maybe even distributor cap and rotor depending on how long it's been since you've done so

My kenmore window a/c is not cooling wind I used a Kenmore window air conditioner unit in Japan. It has been running "cold" all this time. I turned off the unit to clean the filter.
