Locked up? On my camera, when I try to take a photo, it says "memory full". When I turn the camera on, and switch to "view photos", it says "No images on file". (Is the thing just messing with me?) Confused in Kansas (?) Thanks! Deb

If your photos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos to your computer. I have a full memory card on a Coolpix S4000. I was able to view photos but now I can not. They will not upload either. The camera did freeze on me before this happened.

Can't view photos on camera screen

Hello Celia.

Try going to the menu and look for the "storage" setting. Check to see if it is set on memory card or internal. Switch the setting to see if you can access the photos.
If this doesn't work your 30 photos may be in a folder "type" your Canon cant access. Try moving them to a "Canon" folder that your camera created.

Hopr this helps. Dale

My sony cybershot dsc-s2100 gives error as memory card locked.I can view photos from memory but can not take new photos.

There is a small slide switch on the side of the card, it should be in the position closest to the card contacts (little gold fingers), move the slide switch towards the contacts.

Upon turning on my camera the message 'lens error restart camera' appears against black screen. I've turned off the camera and have tried turning on again. Still same message. Prior to the above...

Can't help with the camera- sounds like it has a fault.

The photos, however, should be recoverable by putting the memory card into a card reader on a computer.

When I try to view the most recently taken photos there is a message that says 'card locked' and I can't view recent photos. Please tell me what I need to do to unlock card.

There are several possible causes for "memory card locked", "memory card error", or "no memory card". Some include trying to use of a 4GB SDHC card with an older camera made before SDHC format came out. Others include problems with the tiny slide switch on the side of the card, or the electrical contact switch internal to the camera. The problem may also arise from simple formatting problems if the card has never been formatted in the camera (note that this will also erase the card). Troubleshooting tips for this problem may be found at this link.

In...Memory Full Problem

Try to format the memory. Go to the menu to setup option and press ok. Go to memory format and press ok. You will see format yes or no. Choose Yes and press ok. This will permanently erase all images from the memory and will solve the issue of the camera always reading memory full.
