We connected the dvd player to "componet1" and the playstation to "componet2" but they play in black and white and a bit fuzzy. Since the manual is in Spanish we are having touble figuring out what we should do so they play in color and how to switch to them from the remote. Where do we get an english written manual for the PDP4294X?

MOST LIKELY the RF out put signal is the same as a local tv chanel 1) try menue change rf output suggest rf 68! OR connect av leads (red white yellow)from the output of your vcr and connect the other end to an Av input eg AV1 on your TV use tv remote to select the AV input
check your connections on the back of the tv and back of the dvd player.
make sure you are using the proper conections on the back of the tv. if you connect the RCA (composite) cables (red yellow white) you should be going from the red yellow white on the tv to the red yellow white on the dvd player. if you have the component(red blue green) connection on the dvd connected to the red yellow white on the tv, you may get a black and white picture. If this does not work, check the manual for the dvd player and see if there is a way to turn "Progressive Scan" features off, some older TV's cannot handle a progressive scan dvd player.
