When I plug in the charger the phone doesnt charge. I've bought a brand new charger and it still wont charge. Should I buy a new battery (current one less than 1yr old) or buy a new phone? Is there anything else I can try to fix it?

It sounds like the electrical input isn't working. Try plugging the chargers into other wall jacks. It could be that your PSP is defective, which in that case you should exchange it at the store you bought it at. Since you bought it brand new, it should still be under warranty.
This happened to me too, you have to take your phone back to who you bought it from so they can repair it. Its the chip inside the phone that is bad. Not the charger.
Your phone charger is shot. New batteries will not help if your battery heats up during charge or stays hot when left on charge. If the battery never gets warm and your charge light doesn't come on then it is a different problem. The phone manufacturer suggests you buy a new phone.
Try a car charger. If the car charger works, then it is either
A) Your power outlet
B) Your wall charger Power Supply unit
C) The phone connector on your wall charger.
If it doesn't work on the car charger, then it is most likely your phone charging system or the connection for charging on your phone. Either way, you will most likely need a new phone. Sorry.
you have done well in troubleshooting it. if you have tried another charger on it and its not charging, then you have to replace the charging port. if you are good opening phones, then replacing the charging port will not be a problem. the chrging port is usually not screwed, it is just fixed to the board by contacts. look for the replacement part and change it. other wise, take it to a phone technician with the new charging port and replace it. good luck!
dnt drain the batteries of your phones...if that happens pls buy multicharger or battery shock, remove the battery..... charge it for about 5min or shock the battery if ur using battery shock...be sure u positioned it ryt....den put it back on ur phone then charge it or continue the charging on the multicharger until its full !!!!im pretty sure of it....im encountering the same prob as urs before and thats what i did and it work!!!!
