Laptop plugged in but not charging

After shutting down my laptop and turning it back on I proceeded to plug it in. Upon plugging it in it doesn't charge. I have switched ac adapters plugs and still it won't charge. It will then randomly restart charging and continue on as if nothing had happened.

Does the battery get hot when it is on the charger. Possibly a bad battery.

SOURCE: Dell Latitude D600 won't accept charger

Had the same problem, My other Dell charger would work fine but the original one that came with this laptop would throw an error message that the Charger wasnt recognized. None of the suggestions on the forums worked.
I held the chord by the circular flex thing at the end, and pushed in the power pin with force into the laptop, held it for a few seconds and now it works fine. If you push the pin slow and gently into the laptop, it doesnt recognize the adapter. I think the problem is either with the power chord connections inside or with the adapter inside the laptop. Try it!

SOURCE: Dell Vostro 1000 shut down and won't turn back on

nope, it is your dc power regulator board. you will note this happens if the battery is in or out of the laptop. that is the key test. some regulators are on the main board and some are seperate for this reason. I think the vostro though is on the main board. A little board re-work will resolve this issue after replacing some components, but this is way beyond a home user's ability.. trust me on this. Sorry for the bad news. Thanks!

SOURCE: My Dell 5160 laptop slows down with the AC adapter plugged in.

try running ur laptop using the adaptor without the battery in it's place and run it with just the battery...note the difference....it may be a power surge/short issue....some times the battery is supplying power along with the adaptor to the notebook and the power circuit in there is not able to take dual power....check your power options setting in Control Panel...

also do this

clean ur system use Tuneup Utility get it from my website Dowload page
www.sureshayyar.110mb.com
use all the tools and option in that tool...the best is 1n Click Maint in there .....it fixes all ur issues...

SOURCE: Toshiba Satellite L300 shuts down when ac power plugged in

How about this step, try to turn off the laptop itself. Remove the cables and battery just like what you did before, then press and hold the power button for 10 seconds. Then, reinsert the cables and battery on the laptop and then turn on the computer itself. If the laptop restarts, shuts down or freezes with the AC power cables, two things that you should seriously consider. It might be the power cable itself, AC cable port or the circuitry going to the motherboard. And since you have cleaned out the fan and heat sink, you have isolated that problem. Have you plug-in another power cable on your laptop? If yes, then check if it works. Otherwise, the main issue is that the AC port is loose or the circuitry of AC adapter going to the motherboard is not not working. You can re-open the unit and check the circuitry from the AC port going to the motherboard. You may check the circuitry from AC port to the power supply if it is ok. If symptom persist, please contact your local dealer...

Will no turn on & yes it is charged

unplug it and take the large battery out of it. also make sure that no cd or dvd disk is in it and also UNPLUG THE PRINTER AND ANYTHING ELSE TO IT.. NOW PLUG IN THE POWER SUPPLY ONLY AND TURN IT ON. IF IT COMES ON AND WINDOWS COMES UP THEN SHUT IT COMPLETELY DOWN AGAIN, UNPLUG IT AND PUT THE BATTERY BACK IN. NOW TURN IT BACK ON. IF IT WORKS SHUT IT DOWN AGAIN AND PLUG THE POWER SUPPLY BACK IN. NOW TRY IT AGAIN. IF IT WORKS NOW, ONE AT A TIME, PLUG PRINTER IN AND TURN ON. DO THE SAME WITH ANYTHING ELSE THAT NEEDS TO BE PLUGGED IN. GOOD LUCK.

I cannot move the mouse on screen- what do I do?

Make sure there is nothing plugged into any USB ports, restart the computer (or manually shut it down by pressing the button) and turn it back on. If that doesn't fix it, try plugging in a USB wireless (or wired) mouse and see if that works.

You need to replace the battery as it has expired.
They are available by typing the battery model number or laptop model number into ebay or Google or indeed any search engine.
Hope that helps.

Looks like your battery is having a problem. Remove the battery and replace after a couple of hours. If problem remains replace the battery with another to test, if this works, then the problem is with the adapter unit. Get a new one.

just take the battery out of your laptop and plug it in again. this may help to overcome the problem still.. if you face the problem.. just trying replacing the battery by asking it with some of your friends. and if it works.. buy one for you.

Dell inspirion 1501 laptop, not charging battery light showing red, have bought a new mains adaptor but still not charging

Does the back dc jack seem loose when you have the ac adapter plugged into it? Wiggle the cord right where it plugs into the laptop. If it moves around then most likely the dc jack on the inside has one of it's 3 points of contact broken. This means that someone would need to re-solder that contact or put a whole new jack into the laptop. Another thing to try is replacing the battery. Sometimes they won't charge because they are bad. Another thing to try is take the battery out, plug it into the adapter, turn it on, get into windows, shut down, put battery back in, turn on. See if that resets the battery and makes it charge.

Battery charging problem on my asus x50rl, onto 2nd battery now, initial charge ok but will not charge up now

you may need to recalibrate the battery, to do this you need to run the laptop until it shuts down due to power, turn it back on and on boot press f2 or w/e your bios key is and plug it back in then let the laptop run until it dies again. plug it in and let it charge completely. i hope this helps
