Shift key LOCKED - R Samsung Computers & Internet

The Selectric typewriter has several "interlocks" that can cause the keyboard to be locked. When you turn the machine off there is a mechanism that locks the keyboard. When you turn it on the part should move and unlock the keyboard. Sometimes this part sticks and the keyboard will remain locked. When you type any character the keyboard is locked to prevent two keys trying to type at the same time. The machine locks and unlocks very fast. One keys is locked in and prevents others from working. try turning on the machine and hitting every key just a little bit harder and see if it then types. When you shift, as the ball is turning the keyboard is locked temporarily so it won't attempt to type as the ball is turning as that would damage the machine. Sometimes the shift mechanism can cause the keyboard to remain licked as the shift may not have finished it's complete cycle. Also, the return mechanism locks the keyboard temporarily when the carrier is returning to prevent you from typing when the carrier is moving backwards. Only a qualified technician can resolve those issues.

-What lock in park ? Steering wheel or Shift handle...?
-If steering wheel >>The key has to be in run position before it can be turn.
-If the shift handle is stuck>>> Insert the key to (Shift Lock key hole and press then shift the handle.

Normally you would just press the key to unlock it. Did you spill something sticky on it to keep it locked?

The shift lock solenoid is not getting power due to a blown brake light fuse or the solenoid itself has gone bad.

Go to control panel, accessibility options, disable Sticky Keys, and such on the general tab

Number lock, a situation where numbers instead of letters are typed is as a result of the digital lock being active. to deactivate pressing the Fn+Numlk or Fn + Shift +Numlk key combinatioins

Do your brake lights work?

Did you leave the steering wheel turn to right or left? If so turn it to the way you left it as far as it will go then try to turn the key. Try this a few times to get it to key to turn. Also try rocking the car while turn the steering wheel and key might need another person. Cause: the park pin is ingaged and with the wheels being turned makes it hard to unlock steering colum.

Try the shift key, then try pressing each key on the key board one may be partially tripped.

it sounds like you have sticky keys on.
this would come on by pressing the shift key 5 times.
press any two keys at the same time and the control panel will come up.
