When I watch a show the TV picture has a red/purplish tint to it. When I shut off the the signal to the TV the picture is Black but with an erie red glow in it. I have never cleaned/aligned or done anything to the TV in 6 years. Will the color balance suggestion correct my problem?

You can turn up the Screen controls in back of set. Look for the focus block that has 6 controls on it. 3 are for the screen and 3 for the focus, in each color Red, Blue, Green. need to turn evenly to keep color balanced. On set turn color all the way down and then get a good black and white picture.

Can you post a picture of the present screen to your TV? If so, it will be more helpfull to detect the fault. A blue-back screen with no video will be more helpful Set the TV to Av mode, and take the photo.

Black spots on TV when watching sports etc that have white in the picture. The black spots are showing up on the ice for instance (Hockey) all over the TV.

I SUGGEST CLEANING THE LENS ASSEMBLY. IF YOU LOOK ON THE SIDE OF THE TV CABINET YOU WILL A SMALL SQUARE THAT IS ABOUT 4 INCHES BY 6 INCHES HELD IN WITH ONE SCREW IF YOU LOOSEN THAT SCREW YOU WILL BE ABLE TO GET INTO THE CABINET OF THE TV AND CLEAN THE LENS GOOD LUCK

GE D52GW12 52 in. Rear Projection TV, serial#. 101551428, chassis PTK195p2b, Servie # 52GW948YX2 TV keeps getting slowly darker, is there a lightbulb inside that I can replace...TV is perfect other than...

There is something else you can try if the set has not been "serviced" for several years.

This model has three picture tubes with large black lens on top of each, if the set is in a dusty area and the lens have never been cleaned, dust on the lens will gradually make the picture duller and darker.

Unplug set and remove back cover, see if you can see the three large lens and if so wipe them clean with a lens cloth or a paper towel with glass cleaner sprayed on it.

Let me know if you need more information.

I have a 52 inch rca rear projection and has a red tint to it when dark image or picture

I've had this problem with my projection TV recently. I would say your lens/lamp is to blame. It might be time to change it, depends on the last time it was changed, most of the time, the TV will tell you that it needs to be changed, but not always. I think your best bet is the TV lamp.

Rear projection tv picture quality loss

most of these sets have 3 lens for the three picture tubes inside and also a mirror---if it has never had the lens cleaned they could be dusty and this will diminish the brightness and clarity of your picture---if real dirty the picture will look washed out------most of these sets you can remove the back cover(unplug set first) and gain access to the lens ; clean them with a lens cloth or a paper towel with glass cleaner.

"Dark" Picture

Hi, please try to a different cable, reseat the bulb & try a different input source such as VCR, DVD or different computer. You can also try replacing the bulb. If issue still present call the projector manufacturer for service or they may excersie the great warranty option of that projector.
