How old is your screen, if its older than 2-3 years mostly its gone and you need to replace it. If its in warranty then contact dell customer support. Life of screen can be around 3 years after that i may not work.
Another test is to connect it to some other computer and see if its working, then we can focus on some output issue from the CPU.

The screen will turn on for a split second then turn to black. Each time the poet button is pushed the same thing happens but does not stay on. The power button stays green but black screen.

There are lights on the back of the Dell that tell you a little more. Dell has an extensive list of trouble shooting procedures at http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/SYSTEMS/dim3100/en/sm/adtshoot.htm#wp1124478
Hope this information will help.

When I turn on my desktop the power button stays yellow and computer doesn't boot up.

A flashing Amber power button indicates a bad power supply. A solid amber means a motherboard failure or a failed component attached to the motherboard preventing post.

Dell dimension 2400 cd drawer opens up when

The latch which holds the CD tray in place once the drawer retracts must be faulty. You will need to take it to a repair shop in order to have it fixed, unless you are comfortable with pulling apart the computer shell in order to test the latch to see if it is functional.

If you are not a professional, I would suggest taking it to your local computer repair store for service. They will be able to assess if that is the issue you are having.

Hi,

Unplug the screen, the power cable from it, and leave it 24hrs. Then plug it in and start your computer. Somehow it drains it fully of power and stops the standby situation.

Hope this helps, if anyone can help me then please do.

When i turn my computer on the power light and

Hello,

If your computer turns on and your monitor stays in stand by mode, then there is no communication between your video card and the monitor.
You could check if the cable is plugged in correctly or even faulty.

It is also possible that there is a problem with your video card. Maybe physically uninstalling and reinstalling it could solve it.

If none of this helps, then you might want to check a new video card.

Hope this helped.

Screen freezes often

check the CPU fan if it is working fine
clean the dust on cpu fan
try cleaning the ram
after trying all above then also if u face the same problem try checking the power supply connectors which connect your motherboard
and the last 2 options will be your motherboard or processor
