I'm one of the guest from earlier that had the same problem where it froze every time that it turned on. i don't know exactly what happened but after being connected to the computer (even though the computer didn't recognize it) for most of the day, it just kinda went back to normal and it's working again. =)

I have the exact same problem as you except mine builds the library and the screen turns on but automatically freezes each time it does turn on. it doesn't turn off except by reset button and still doesn't turn back on. and i tried plugging it into my computer and pressing the reset button, but it still hasn't done anything. =' (

My Zen V froze up last night- as it does all of the time. So I restarted it but when it was rebuilding the library, it stops right under the b and then pulls up the main screen. I lost EVERYTHING off of the mp3 player, including playlists, pictures and hundreds of songs. There are about 100 songs left on it and the backround I left up.
So thinking that it just crashed and I need to upload all my stuff again, I tried to plug it into my computor... it wont show up on my computor, but it says its docked on the screen.
Is it done for? This is so severely depressing. I've just had it a year. How PETHETIC!
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I hope its not done for.

You might have pulled it out when it was transferring information. You probably need to upgrade its firmware. Go to Creative's website and check.

Zen wont work

it sounds like a possible back light problem. those are not something you can fix at home. if you are hearing music etc, mean definetly the back light is gone.
It's like a laptop computer, when the back light gone, you are still able to use the computer on an external monitor but not on the laptop lcd.

Charging problem

The red light means that your zen stone needs to be charged or that it is fully charged. If it plays music it is fine. If it doesn't turn on and has a red light try charging it.

My Creative Zen won't turn on or so sizes of charging.

On the bottom is a very small hole. Put a pin in and push, it will start your creative up again.

Zen 16 gig won't turn nor charge

hold down the reset button for about 1 min then leave it for about 30 seconds. once you have done that try turning it on, if it does not turn on and it is completely dead leave it pluged in to your computer by using the usb cable, leave for about 30 mins it then might start to charge, if it does start to charge leave it till it is fully charged and then it should turn on. if none of that works then i don't know.

Zen m wont turn on

Well, it needs to charge via USB on your computer, so plug in your zen into the computer with the creative usb cord, and let it recharge. It may not necessarily turn on if it's really out of battery, but you can tell its charging when the switch you use to turn on and off, and hold, the light is blinking. After sometime, your Zen screen on the upper righthand corner should show a little battery and be blinking green what stage it's at in its charging. When its done charging the battery icon with be fully green, not blinking, and have a little plug icon inside of the battery icon to indicate that it is fully charged--takes a couple of hours to charge.

If that does not work, check your USB cord to make sure it's not damaged in any way. If it is, you may need to purchase a new one for better connection. And if that doesn't work, then you might need to replace the battery altogether, which I'm sure, if you are still in your manufactuer's warranty, they can do for you. After it is replaced, your zen should be good as new and ready to operate.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Zen not turning on after powering up

I had the same problem. Couldn't turn on the Zen and computer wouldn't recognize it.

I took a safety pin and reset it. It works now! Thank goodness!

Creative zen v plus

If the light is flashing, that means it's charging, but it's possible you're not getting enough charging current to really make a difference.
I would try charging the player with a wall charger (can you borrow a charger from a friend?)
