You can do format while rebooting your pc and opening it in safemode command prompt that arrives by pressing F5 or F8. First you format the drives in which your OS is not present. Then format your primary hard drive on which OS is installed. In command prompt write C:/>formact C:\

OK a format will delete all programs. But if your data is confidential then you need a Hard eraser program to erase your harddisk completely before selling it. So use the program:
Darik's Boot and Nuke 1.0.7:
http://dban.sourceforge.net/
Download the ISO file "dban-1.0.7_i386.iso". Burn the image on a CD, restart the PC with that Bootable CD. This will start in a Linux Like interface follow the instruction and erase the drive you want with relevant erasing option.
Erasng will take time, so have patience.
After erasing it is safe to sell the PC, and now nobody can recover your data with any Data Recovery software.

First of all you need to take backup of necessary files of your pc if you want. Second if you want to format your pc do delete all your data on other drive(like D:, E: etc in which operating system is not installed) without formating your drive. It is somewhat time consuming but it will not harm your harddisk life. Try to delete and remove all the folders you can from your logical drive(like C: on which OS is installed). I think at last may be 35 MB to 100 MB space will be conquered by the files which could not be removed. Then restart your pc and enter the cd of OS u want to install. Follow the instructions and and option will come to format your current hard drive. Do it your disk will be formated.

You can format the entire drive, however you will loose all stored information and all windows aswell as all your drivers will need to be reinstalled in order for the computer to be able to boot. How to format: When your computer is booting press F8 repeatedly until a black screen with a menu comes up, choose command prompt only or safe mode with command promt. The screen wil change and you wil have another black screen. At this screen type "format c:\" and follow the prompts. Hope this helps

Format a compaq armada laptop

This is an older system so Vista is definitely out, it MIGHT load but it would be really slow.

Best bet is probably XP Home, you could install Windows 98SE but a lot of the newer programs will not work with it.

Boot to the installation CD, you will have the option to format the drive as part of the installation procedure.

Device Drivers for your computer are located here:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?prodNameId=96721&lang=en&cc=us&taskId=135&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=96235

I suggest you download them and burn them to CD first because you network adapter may no work after the reinstall until you load these.

Windows vista problem

vista is not much different to xp ... it just has a load of extra trimmings that you dont really need.
try checking your sound card drivers and make sure yahoo is set to use the appropriate device.
Vista also is an operating system that takes up a lot more disk space. Bill gates likes to sell stuff that you think is improved but really its just an excuse for them to make more money.

Help me..whats going on with windows xp home edition

When installing a new operating system, all file saved will be deleted. Since you've lost all data, you might as well format the entire drive, and then reinstall the vista inspirat thing. Then, download an Avast! anti virus form avast.com. Download the home version, which is free and scan the computer for any viruses. Delete every last one of the suckers.

Trying to install xp on a vista

First, have you deleted Vista, or are you trying a dual boot?

Second, you do not have to disable your HDD or you cannot do the installation!

For a step by step procedure to install XP on a Vista computer (dual boot), please check here:
http://www.syschat.com/dual-boot-vista-xp-vista-already-1946.html
or
http://apcmag.com/how_to_dual_boot_vista_and_xp_with_vista_installed_first__the_stepbystep_guide.htm

I do not recommend removing Vista completely,if that is what your laptop/PC came with, as most components and drivers installed will be Vista specific. If you need to have XP, make sure you have all the drivers for XP first.

I have a computer and I got a spyware in my sistem and I ned fix a window xp home agen but I dont have any CD program

if you are infected with spyware you have 2 options

1. you buy an antispyware software and you scan your Pc
make shure you dont scan your pc with one of those free ones on the internet, they offer free fixes but youre really getting more spyware. But you will not be 100 % clean you will still have spyware even if you scan your system 100 times.
this is with any antispyware or antivirus.

2. you erase everything and by everything i mean windows.

if youre pc is a hp , compaq you may have a restore partition.

if its a generic youll need to buy xp or vista

Dont try to do this yourself , take it to some one who knows what their doing , like geek squad for example.
