I guess I need to explain that I am using a VHS tape on my VCR player and when I put it in, it runs fast forward speed without any help. Do not know why since I took the home video with my ordinary camcorder.

Sorry, I am new to FixYa and I guess I posted a question to the Toshiba computer section. What I wanted to do was ask a question about our VCR running a VHS tape in fast mode. I will repost this question. Thanks for your reply.

If you mean just the one and the rest then it was probably recorded in Extended Play mode and nothing can be done.
Otherwise please explain your issues in more detail.
Hi. Why is my VHS tape playing fast?"); display: inline-block; height: 24px; width: 24px; margin-top: -1px; transform: rotateZ(-180deg);">
If you have a VHS video tape that's playing too quickly then it's very likely that the player you are using does not support either LP or SLP. SLP capable video players should automatically detect the mode and adjust automatically.
or try this link out.

I push the VHS Cartridge in, it drops down to the play position, the front door opens, the tape comes out, it goes around the chrome wheel that is spinning, but it will not play, will not rewind, will not fast forward. It then shows "Error" and the machine shuts off, with the tape still around the chrome wheel, When I turn the machine back on, the VHS Cartridge ejects from the machine. This machine has been used very little, I loaned it to my Son In Law and it came back with the VHS Tape Deck not playing. I have the machine open, so I can see what it is doing.
sounds like to me the tape is to tight .try rewinding the tape all the way then fast forward all the way till it stops repeat and it should loosen up. if not the tape is no good the blue screen might go away after the tape is loosened n try cleaning the tape player good luck
Initially, I am inclined to think that nothing is wrong. It is just most likely that that particular tape was recorded in a different speed other than what your VCR is capable of playing. This is a form of compression wherein a longer recording/playing time is squeezed into the same type/kind of tape. The various settings are SP, LP, EP or even an XP. Pls click here to give you an idea of the recording time/speed at different settings.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
I work at the History Channel and have a VHS that had the same troubles. I need it desperately for the show I am working on. I tapped it on a table fast forwarded it and presto! Tape fixed, crisis averted. Thank you, Thank you, thank you.
The idler wheel (that only drives the tape in play or scan modes) is
slipping too much (very common problem). Try verify this by
putting the tape in play then immediately press the fast fwd or rewind
buttons to scan the tape. On older machines, the idlers used
rubber friction tires - on newer ones, a clutch. Either replace
the tire or increase the spring tension on the clutch.
Hope Ya Fix It.
