Is Antivirus Must and should in my computer?

Yes it is,

Antivirus or anti-virus is a software used to prevent, detect, and remove computer viruses,Worms , and trojan horses. It may also prevent and remove adwares,Spywares and other forms of malwares . This page talks about the software used for the prevention and removal of such threats, rather than computer security implemented by software methods.

You need not spend money on buying the licience key or buying the whole package of antivirus programme, you can download Microsoft security essentials.

*Your PC must run genuine Windows to install Microsoft Security Essentials

You don't need it anyway.
If you're on Windows 8, you've got Windows Defender;
If you're on Windows 7, you need MS Security Essentials.

Microsoft security essentials does'nt scan my computer & comes up with your computer is unprotected

Uninstall MS Security Essentials.
Go to http://www.avast.com/index
Download their free antivirus software.
Install it and run a scan.

Also go to http://www.malwarebytes.org/
Download their free version.
Install and run malware scan.

Once you have run these two scans and have cleaned any malware off your system, feel free to try MS Security Essentials again (although it's not really necessary).

I recommend buying a license for this software, but it isn't a requirement. Either way it will serve you better than MSSE.

Computerr software question, which anti virus protection is better norton or avast.

Hello mississippik,
No one anti-virus software is better than the other. Each package can have many differences in detecting virus infections and malware.
One that I recommend is Security Essentials. It is free and created by Microsoft. You can configure it to also scan USB drives. Few anti-virus software packages have this feature. Security Essentials can be found here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/security_essentials/default.aspx
If you chose not to go with Security Essentials, I would recommend Norton. It has a strong history. I have had little success with Avast.
Hope this helps!

Computer security...i have microsoft security essentials alredry in my computer.... Do i need another security program to go with it ...like macaffee or norton or avg....rt now i also have bitdefender 2010...

My goodness YES!! You need anti-virus, and there are several you don't even need to pay for:
http://download.cnet.com/1770-20_4-0.html?query=antivirus&tag=srch&searchtype=downloads&filterName=platform%3DWindows&filter=platform%3DWindows
Bitdefender is nice, but will not cover all the bases at all. I use Avast which is free and in that link, and i would put that up against anything Norton or Mcaffee sells. Security essentials is not what I would consider adequate protection
