How do you install a new belt? its hard to fit around !!

If you tip the washer back, you should be able to see the drive belt on the bottom of the machine. Chances are, the belt broke and didn't just fall off. I would suggest taking the old belt (which you'll find there on the floor) to an appliance store and have them match it up with a new one. Installation is fairly straight forward. It will go around the motor, transmission pulley, the water pump, and a tensioner (if equipped.) I hope this helps! :)

there are several kinds of plastic cement..everything from superglue to plastic pipe cement like plumbers use..available at most hardware stores..even model glue..I would try one of these before pitching the washer..you nmay be able to screw it on using stainless steel sheet metal screws also..

You are correct in that the belt seems overly tight. This is what I did.1) Get the belt on the large pully2) Using several ZIpTies every few inches, secure the belt to the pully3) Get a metal hanger and loop it through the belt making a safe handle at the end.4 Cover the handle with a cloth to protect your hands and to also provide grip.5) Have my 300 lb, 6'7" hulk of a son pull as hard as he can while you assist getting the belt on the motor spindle.

unfortunatly the back does not come off this machine, only the small inspection panel at the rear.

belt can be really hard to fit, hotpoint actually supplys its engineers with a specialist tool to fit the belt.

i fit it by removing the lid and inspection panel, fit belt around motor first then from the top feed onto the drum pulley. a tip is you can cable tie the belt to the main puley(use a few) then slowley rotate and belt should slip on, sort of like putting a chain on your bike.

may take a few trys, good luck with it and let me no how you get on.

The wire you refer to is an earth wire, it has probably pulled of the motor or the frame of the m/c.
If you can't see where it came from, don't worry too much, all you need to do is fasten it to a metal part of the m/c so that is is making a contact to earth.
I assume that you can get a belt o/k
Make sure that the drum and motor are free before you fit new belt.

If you stand in FRONT of the washer, leaning over the top, the drive wheel is underneath the main drive motor, on the RIGHT hand side.  Loop the belt over the drive motor wheel, then over the main pully, and it should be good to go!

I think its a 'front Loader'? Take the back panel off, to expose the main drive belt & pulley. When fitting the new belt it needs stretching by first putting it around the motor drive shaft & easing on to the main pulley whilst gradually rotatng the pulley. You need to finish up with the belt in the centre of both of the pulleys if possible 

Does it a new belt or the existing one ?
