1. Be ready to answer a couple of questions then open a 2nd browser window.
2. Click this link http://downloads.lexmark.com/perl/downloads/downloads.cgi
2a. on the left hand side of the screen you'll see "Find Drivers and Downloads" Click it!
2b. In the "Search by Printer Model" field, type "x1190".
2c. Choose Your Operating System
3. Download the Driver file.
4. disconnect the printer
4a. If you have Windows, go to "Control Panel" - "Add or Remove programs". Delete all things Lexmark
4b. go to "Start" then "Printers and Faxes". Delete the printer.
5. Reboot
6. Connect the printer and follow the prompts. Use the Driver file you just downloaded.

Hopefully this will work. During set up, you may have to tell the "Wizard" where to look for the Driver File. Hit "Browse" then show the path to the Driver file. If you have trouble with this part, just ask for more clarification.

    BTW...do steps 4a & 4b if you had this printer previously installed on this computer....otherwise ignore them.

Not at all. May I recommend a visit to the Lexmark website Support page ?
This will help you find the necessary drivers (software) and information, so that you can install your printer even if you don't have a CD.

You can download the drivers from this website:

http://downloads.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/downloads.cgi?ccs=229:1:0:94:0:0&emeaframe=&fileID=565&searchLang=en&os_group=WinXP

Unplug the printer and then start the installation, the installation will tell you when to plug in printer.
