My Samsung TV has started making a high-pitched chirping noise when it's been on for more than 30 minutes or so. It sounds like a CD is skipping. When I unplug the TV, the chirping noise stops after 5-7 minutes. This particular model does not have a color wheel, what else could cause this sound? Picture and sound appear to be fine.

Dec 30, 2008 - In my case, the monitor was fine for the first two months. But then started making a buzzing noise... 1) when on, 2) worse when .... my Samsung TV ismaking high pitched noises even if its turned off. I will NEVER EVER EVER ...
Most chirping noises are due to bad pulleys on the motor. It's usuually an idler pulley or belt tensioner pulley. May also be the bearing in the alternator. Use a stethescope to check otherwise you can use a rubber hose. Put hose up to one ear and put other end by each pulley. Should hear high pitch chirping.
Chirping means the power supply is being loaded down by a short in most cases, likely a bad convergance IC http://home.earthlink.net/~oleg.filippov/ConvergenceFix.htm http://cmpalmer.blogspot.com/2006/11/fixing-my-own-tv-part-ii.html
