I have a problem with my condenser tumble dryer not turning the drum as normal. When I turn it on it is making an electrical shorting noise, that seems to be eminating from the timer. Can you offer any suggestions on what would be the main cause? Many thanks
I'd suggest - remove the top cover. Switch on. Push the drum around - see if the drum picks up speed and continues to run. If this happens, it means that the motor Starter capacitor has gone dud and will need replacing. Note- If the drum doesn't continue to rotate after you shove it, switch off immediately. It will likely then be a faulty motor.
That will be your motor capacitor that’s what make the motor turn of your mechanically minded there is a utube videoclip showing you how to do this the part can be brought off eBay for around £7 and if you are going to temp to do the job please make sure the appliance is unplugged please
It sounds like it could be your cappacitor have checked your timer for any lose connections remenber always unplug from the mains.please let me know

If you have a shorting sound in the timer when you turn it on most likely the timer is bad.You could open the door & hold the switch in so it will run & try turning the drum. Reach inside to turn the drum. The door pushes against the switch. Hope this helps good luck
