Do we need CD installer if we will use this machine as computer network printer

It depends, you will need the drivers either from the CD or from a folder on a network share no matter how you setup the printer when you're printing directly to the printer.

But if you attach one Windows machine to it and then share it, the computer will install the driver automatically when you attach to the shared printer on that machine as long as the operating systems share the same driver.

Furthermore, you can also install the driver for other operating systems in the printer properties.

Tm-t88iv epson made prnter driver for win 2003 server r2 std

Epson POS driver will not install on a Win2K3 machine due to the InstallShield Wizard w/c checks if your running XP/2K or not.

Download the driver from EPSON POS site & extract the contents first on an XP machine.(Installing the driver will create a C:\Epson folder where ACTUAL driver is extracted).

Print problem from network

Try installing the drivers that came on the CD with the printer.

Do the following on the machine connected to the printer:
  • Uninstall all previous drivers from Add/Remove programs (if any exist)
  • Go to Printers in the control panel and from the File menu choose Server Properties
  • Select the current printer driver and hit the Remove button
  • Turn off and unplug the printer
  • Restart your machine
  • Install the drivers that came with the printer from the CD
Note: Do not unplug the printer till asked by the installer
  • Try to print a test page from the same machine
On the client machines, do the following:
  • Delete the printer
  • Delete the printer driver from the Server Properties window as above
  • Use the Add Printer wizard to add the printer
  • It will automatically install the drivers on the client machine
  • Try to print a test page
If the driver could not be removed, try resetting the Printer Spooler service:
To do that
  • Open Control Panel -> Administrative Tasks -> Services
  • Find the Printer Spooler service
  • Right click and Stop
  • Right click and Start
Good luck :)

Brother HL 5140

In Windows XP Pro...

Go to printers and faxes window. File-Server Properties. From dialog go to drivers then select the problem driver and pick Replace button. Select Yes to replace driver.

This has worked to solve the problem on the printer server machine but not on the other machines using the printer as a shared printer.
