Phone should have a warranty, this should be covered under that. If purchased from a store take it back there, if not try and contact the seller or manufacturer.

The
LG Chocolate mobile phone by Life's Good (LG) is used through
Verizon cellular phone service. The Chocolate, also known by the
model number VX8500, comes in a variety of colors and includes
features such as a camera and a music player. The phone can be reset
to factory default settings. Instruction
1. Access the
menu by pressing the "OK" button.
2.
Lightly tap the backwards button--the one with two small triangles
pointing to the left--on your keypad.
3.
Press "OK," and then the number "5" button
twice.
your screen has broken and LCD also has broken that's why your half screen is working and half is black. you have to change your screen and then use your phone again like before
Buy a screen. Many online retailers sell them, but ebay is the best place. Buy a phone for parts/repair, and make sure the screen is working. It might cost you $10-$15. There are many tutorials online on how to open up your phone, but it's not easy. Good luck!
I have the same problem my friend . My Chocolate has been working fine for nearly 7 months now . And randomly it just de-pixellized infront of my eyes and the screen broke down to pure white . I suggest taking it in to a cellphone store for them to have a look at it .
I found one on ebay for $25, it's really not that bad to replace, just take your time, and take out the phillips head screws, take the battery out first and then remove the 4 screws, then take out the 3 screws securing the pc board, then remove the 4 lower screws, and then the 2 on top near the camera, under the rubber covers
