Are you referring to the inlet screen on the water fill valve? Screen should not be removed, just cleaned. Screen prevents objects from entering and damaging the valve. This damage may cause an over fill condition.
Hello, it could be a water leak if you have a water dispenser. Behind the
plastic panel in the refrigerator is a plastic water line that make about ten
switch back and forth, and maybe small water reservoir. When push the button to
get cold water it activate a water solenoid on the back of the refrigerator. The
water pressure pushes water through the cooling line. Now, you get a glass of
cold water.
There might be some screw on the panel for removal. There could another
problem it has to do the door seal. The seal has a heater in it and this keep
condensation from build up in your refrigerator. It those darn wigits again. GB

Order a new line for your model and use the old line to pull it through the door. Cut the head of a screw off and use it to connect the old line to the new water line to help pull it through.
