Check the video output cord. If it's not attached properly, the unit will give an error like that.

How was my answer unhelpful? Did you even try what I said?

If you did then the Xbox is junk. The "Red Ring of Doom" means one of 2 things:
    1) The vid cable is not hooked up right.
    2) The motherboard is trashed.

    Was that helpful enough?

My xbox 360 has no picture but sound only no red lights green ok

First take off my hard drive on the 360. Then plug it to the tv not with HDTV (use the red, yellow and white make sure it is on tv not HDTV) because it will not work for HDTV setting . then plugit into the wall with the 360 laying down not up and down and turned it on. (no picture but sound) with the 360 on take 1 towel fold it long ways and wraped it around 360 from back to front (make sure you cover the fans in the back to make it over heat.) leave your 360 on until it red rings (you can hear the 360 quit down. it takes about 15-30 mins depending on how fast it over heats. once this happens unwrap the 360 and turn it off wait 5 secs and power it back on and there you go you should have picture and sound again. if you still have problem you can now can send it to get repaired since there is a 3 year warrenty for red ringed 360's.

The light around the power button is flashing red but it is usually a solid green and it will not turn on and their is nothing coming up on the screen of the t.v. and their is no sound coming from the t.v.

This is commonly known as the "Red Ring of Death". It means you will probably have to send your 360 in to Microsoft for repair or replacement. I had the same problem a couple months ago after travelling w/my 360 but was lucky enough to have it somehow fix itself (after a little shaking of the system, which I do not recommend).

No picture or sound on the tv

where you put the cables for the sound and picture if you look on the end where you plug it into the xbox 360 you will see a little switch it has HD and TV on it depending on what your tv supports (HD ready TV) (normal TV) switch that switch to what TV you have (e.g. HD TV, switch the switch to HD) if that doesnt work then try checking that you have all the cables in the right ports if you have pluged the HD cables into a normal TV then this is not going to work, check cables and check the switch!
