The headphones port on my Zen has gradually started to not work and now does no work at all. For a period of time I was able to push it a bit to one side and it would play again but no it is not giving out any proper sound. Any suggestions as to how this can be fixed?

In this scenario we never blame first the port of the laptop. have you tried different headphones? normally the audio ports dont go wrong that often. but after trying different headphones if it still doesnot works then you will need to take the laptop to the service station. try different headphones before spending a penny after laptop's audio port.
My suggestion is that there is a loose connection in the headphones and that is why it will only work when it's in a certain direction. That would be the soloution if it was just that one pair of headphones. If lots of pairs of headphones don't work. then it might be that one of the metal plates in the headphone port is broken or damaged. If this is so it might be worth taking it to your local electrician.
