My portable air conditioner has stopped producing cold air

I disagree. When air conditioners actually work IS when they produce water. Sounds like you are on the wrong track.

This may sound foolish but it works turn the unplugged air conditioner upside down and leave it that way for about hour and a half , then turn it back over after the hour and a half let sit for half hour plug it in and it should blow cold air , by turning it upside down it allows the oil in compresser to flow

Yes for dehumidifier, no for heat mode. In dehumidifier mode all the unit does is takes air in, runs it through the evaporator (cold) coil and the back through the condenser (warm) coil discharging dry, slightly warmer air back into the room. In heating mode however if you don't vent the exhaust there will be no heat produced. Warm air will come out the top but cold air will also come out the exhaust (essentially, in heating mode all it does is operates as an air conditioner in reverse. Hope this helps.

Probably needs the Freon gas topped up.

NO.....that would be DC voltage and this unit probly needs A/C voltage. However a genarator would be just fine if it produced enuff watts.

If the compressor is running then you may need to call a serviceman to check the freon charge.

If the air conditioner is putting out cold air, don't worry about it making water. You may not have enough moisture in the air to produce more water than it requires.

In some types of air conditioners, the water taken from the air is used to assist in cooling the condenser unit. The excess is run off.
