My Nikon COOLPIX S3500 just started taking purple pictures with white lines or blurred pictures with the same white lines. I've only had the camera 4 weeks. What is wrong?

I have the exact same problem... Your description is exactly whats happening with this brand new camera from Best Buy. It did it the first time I used it, and I went through every setting (I have a Nikon DSLR, so much of the settings are the same). I thought it might be on some artistic effects mode or something. I packed it for the vacation im noe ince it wow

Flash not working

Hit the lightening bolt on the pad then decide on one and hit the "ok" button. If this doesn't help then look for the manual (google search Nikon Coolpix s3500 manual) Hope I helped :)

What remote shutter release works with the Coolpix S3500? Thanks!

The camera can't work with a remote control. If you want the camera to work, on a tripod, without touching the camera the only thing you can use is the self timer. You can read this on page 55 of the (english) manual.

When I connect my Nikon Coolpix S3500 camera to my computer, I am unable to transfer images to the computer.

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa.

Rotate the zoom control to "T". If you go too far, rotate it the other way. See pages 73 and 74 of the manual: https://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/18250

P5100 Nikon

I have the same problem as you... Nikon acknowledges that they have this problem on other Coolpix models, see: http://home.nikon-asia.com/pagearticle.php?pageid=43-7cc915b40d

Now, how do we get Nikon to acknowledge that this is a problem on the 5100 as well?

Blur on LCD and on pictures taken

Sorry to tell you this but your CCD is gone. In a fwe days time pics will be black in color. CP 5400 uses a batch of defective Sony CCD's. Nikon's service center in Kolkata, India replaced the CCD in my CP 5400 free of cost. This was because Nikon has issued a service advisory. Try your luck with the Nikon service center closest to your home!
