"Operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer"
go to: REGEDIT - registry editor
When in registry editor: HKEY_CURRENT_USER – right click for permissions Advanced Security Settings under 1st tab permissions
You will probably get this error message, "You can't remove restricted because this object is inheriting permissions from its parent.
To remove restricted, you must prevent this object from inheriting permissions. Turn off the option for inheriting permissions, and then try removing RESTRICTED again. ·Unclick: include inheritable permissions from this object’s parent ·Windows security warning: options to add/ remove/ cancel ·Click Remove inherited parent permissions
Denied all access
Continue – delete restricted
Follow this path in registry editor:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERS\software\classes\.html Right click (Default) Change value data from (in my case Chrome – it could be Firefox as well):
From: ChromeHTML To: htmlfile
From: FirefoxHTML To: htmlfile
Repeat steps for .htm, .shtml, .xht if they exist RESTART COMPUTER
Go to control program. Select user accounts. Make sure the user you are using is an administrator user. If not turn that option on on setup a new user that has administrator privliges and logon as that user.
Im not sure if this is actually for a barcode scanner...But if its for a computer i have a suggestion to try.
When running the program that is giving you that error, instead of just normally double clicking, right click on it. Then hit RUN AS AN ADMINISTRATOR.
Your error sounds like a permissions issue, so that should solve it. If not, please comment back with some more specifics (OS, if its for a barcode scanner or not, etc)
I asume you are getting this error "This Operation Has Been Cancelled Due to Restrictions in Effect on This Computer" http://support.microsoft.com/kb/278839 This is cause when your computer administrator is trying to keep you out of certain areas of the computer, in your case the control panel.
"If you are an administrator, you can verify the policies that are enabled. To do this, click User Configuration, click Administrative Templates, and then click System. "
