Question about Sony Handycam DCR-HC20 Mini DV Digital Camcorder
I have an Sony DCR-TRV480 Digital8 camcorder. I've purchased it from Circuit City over an year ago. The problem that I'm having is that the tapes that I recorded in Digital8 will not playback correctly. When you start playback from the beginning it will switch from Digital8 to Hi8 and the SP/LP mode flickers. Now after a few minutes of play back on some of the tapes the correct mode will play but the video is broken/distorted.The problem seems to correct itself a little but only after a few minutes of playback. What can do besides manual head cleaning to resolve this problem?
Dear Sir,

Mechanical alignment! try to record for a minute and playback the result on another player/recorder, not on your camera, if the playback is not okay then your camera needs alignment, you need pro fix. You said that you've done manual cleaning already, maybe you dis aligned the mechanical parts accidentally, applying too much force on the mechanical parts of your small unit tends to bend, dislocate or move these parts out of alignment. defective videohead will never playback good video, and you said that it seems to correct only a few minutes of playback.

I recorded my daughters dance recital less than a week ago. 3 days ago we watched the video at home on our tv and it was great, but today I tried to let my mother watch it at her house and it was jumpy and would freeze for a second, and kind of scramble. We tried both tvs thinking that might be the problem, but then I noticed that it's doing it on my camera also. I usually use Maxell 8mm tapes, but my husband bought Panasonic Hi8 this time. I wasn't sure if that could be the problem; however, it did work a few days ago. Any suggestions?
