Help! I'm having problems with my Necchi Lydia 3. Firstly when threading up, the threaded needle refuses to draw up the bobbin thread. I've followed the instructions and the needle comes in and out but won't catch the bobbin thread. Then, when it did draw up the bobbin thread (I have no idea what I did differently, but once it did) only the top thread would sew. I'd be left with only the top stiches not the bottom. This has just started happening.

Try a different bobbin
make sure the bobbin in turned the right way in the bobbin case
also the machine may have a timing problem, and having it checked to would be a good idea.

SOURCE: Necchi 215A Sewing machine Could anyone help I

Make sure the bobbin has a 3-5 inch thread tail
Then make sure the top thread has a 3-5 inch tail
Then hold the top thread tail with your fingers (away from the needle)
& use the hand wheel on the right hand side of the machine to slowly
Lower the needle in the bobbin area & see if the bobbin thread will pick
Up that way

Necchi Lydia 3 - I can't get the tension on my upper thread adjusted. I have turned to different numbers on the dial but there is a mess of thread on the underside. The bobbin tension correct.

Is this machine new to you or have you had it awhile and it worked fine before?

Are you sure it is top thread?... use a similar but contrasting color for top thread to be sure.

Do you have the manual to be sure you are threading it properly?

See following video on threading the Lydia 3.

Hi there I got a Necchi Lydia 544, my needle tread does not pick up the bobbin tread, I follow the instruction manual step by step as well as videos on youtube.

when you put the bobbin in the carrier make sure you have about 6" of thread out
next adjust the needle thread tension right up

How do I adjust tension on a Necchi Lydia 510 sewing machine?

loops under fabric means top tension needs to be tightened
try cleaning the top tension dial with some unwaxed dental floss and see if that helps. if it doesn't then the tension dial may need to be replaced
also check to make sure the spool of thread is not getting caught on the spool holder
also try a new needle--one that is correct for the fabric being sewed

Necci Lydia mk2 544. Something seems to be binding. does it need oiling. It only hums when using foot pedal.

try cleaning under the needle plate where the feed dogs are to get out any lint or loose threads
then clean the bobbin area for lint or loose threads

rethread the machine- top thread & bobbin--make sure to thread every thread guide

make sure the thread moves smoothly around the tension dial

also check the top tension setting -usually 3 or 4 is good

make sure the power cord is inserted correctly into the machine

it could also be the foot pedal itself may be going bad--it would have to be checked by a repair shop

always use the same thread on top & in bobbin area

put new needle in also

also some thread & needles are not compatable--try this

Cut 6-8 inch piece of thread of the spool you are going to use for your project
Take the needle you are going to use for the project
& insert the thread thru the eye of the needle
& lift one end of the thread to a 45 degree angle
& if the needle is the right size for the thread it will slide down the thread
But if the needle hangs on the thread you need one size larger needle for the thread

My Necchi 4595 has never really worked properly,.,.,the lower thread (bobbin) is very loose and then the thread breaks,,,I've tried to adjust the tension, but maybe I'm doing that wrong.

I also own 2 necchi sewing machines, my mechanical is a 4595,,
lower thread tension
to test the bobbin tension, remove the bobbin case & bobbin & hold it by suspending it byb the thread, **** it once or twice, if the tension is correct, the thread will unwind by about an inch or two.
if the tension is too tight, it does not unwind at all, if the tension is too loose, it will drop too much.
to adjust the tension,, left is loosen & to the right tighten

thread breaks
rethread the machine making sure to get all thread guides
top thread tension usually 3 or 4
replace needle- make sure the needle is inserted correctly
some needles don't work with some thread, here's a tip

Cut 6-8 inch piece of thread of the spool you are going to use for your project
Take the needle you are going to use for the project
& insert the thread thru the eye of the needle
& lift one end of the thread to a 45 degree angle
& if the needle is the right size for the thread it will slide down the thread
But if the needle hangs on the thread you need one size larger needle for the thread

I have a Necchi 535 sewing machine and the thread tangles

if the thread under the fabric is a matted mess
1.the needle thread tension is to loose
2.needle is either to heavy or to fine for the thread
3.check to make sure the thread isn't off the thread take-up lever
