Question about DeLonghi DCM485 Coffee Maker

Won't brew Worked normally until this morning when it just stopped running the water through the system. We just realized the 4 flashing bars meant it needs to be decalcified...but we can't do it since it stopped working. We have reset the bars by pressing both clock and set. Bars left but machine still won't brew. Why does this model just stop working?Power is on normally...machine has been surface cleaned to remove clogs. What to do?

Same problem and it seems very common. It stinks because one would think that an expensive machine like this would work for longer.

I am having the exact same problem. The machine is exactly one year and a month old. This is an expensive machine and trying to get results is aggravating. I'm starting to think it's better to buy a cheapie and throw it away after a year. Unbelievable.

    wont brew

I had the same problem. Only had it for less than 2 months and one day it just would not brew. When I took the water resevoir out there was a puddle in the bottom of the machine. It is obviously won't **** water up the the filter basket. I could not figure out how to get it apart to see if there was something clogging it or some other problem that I could take care of. I could understand if it was old an not cared for but this is ridiculous.

Same problem as described: just stopped brewing/working.

same problem - won't brew - this is the 2nd delonghi dcm485 in 16 months. The first they replaced with the original receipt within a year. They sent a new one that won't brew but won't replace it even though it's only 10 months old because it's over a year old from the original receipt. Makes no sense to me - I will pursue their legal dept and better business bureau if they won't replace it.

I had the same problem, just stopped brewing. I took it apart and found a small inline fuse link that went bad. I replaced it and it brews just like new. Now it has started leaking while brewing. I am trying to find where you can purchase the rubber tubing that goes from the tank to the element. I would go to another coffee maker but my son and daughter n law gave this to my wife and I. I really hate to get rid of it.

Bring white vinegar to a boil and pour it into the perforated top, the water reservoir and the link between the water reservoir and the brew basket. let sit a few minutes, pour it out and do it again.
put the water reservoir back in, put water and vinegar solution ( half and half) in. Try to start it again. Mine did this last year and this fixed it right away. Try to clean the coffee maker using the vinegar solution once a month to avoid this problem.

I am descaling my Keurig for the 2nd time, it fills 2 cups w/vinegar and stops and won' start again, tells me its ready, help

A. Prepare
Step 1: Make sure you have 48 ounces of white vinegar on hand. You will also need an empty sink and a ceramic mug (Do not use a paper cup.)
Step 2: Empty the water in the water reservoir
B. Fill and Clean
Step 1: Pour the vinegar into the water reservoir and fill it to the top edge of the clear viewing area.
Step 2: Place a ceramic cup in the drip tray and run a brew cycle. DO NOT USE A K-CUP...just press the large cup button. Pour the contents of the cup into the sink.
Step 3: Repeat the brew process until the water reservoir is empty, pouring the contents of the cup into the sink after each cycle. Remember to open and close the lid between each cycle.
Step 4: Now fill the reservoir with fresh water and let the brewer stand for 4-hours while it is still on.
C. Rinse
Step 1: Ensure the water reservoir is filled with fresh water.

Step 2: Place a ceramic cup on the drip tray and run a regular brew cycle. Once again, DO NOT USE A K-CUP...Pour the contents of the cup into the sink.

Step 3: Repeat the brew process until the water reservoir is empty.

Step 4: You may need to perform additional brew cycles if you notice any residual taste.

Not brewing

it sounds like the pump inside is bad, from either a clog or fuse perhaps.the pump sends the water thru so thats the likley problem.

Doesn't always brew all the water, stops early

All coffee makers do this over time from calcium, lime, and mineral deposits building up inside the tubes and heating coil. Fill the reservoir with a 50/50 mixture of water and white vinegar and run a normal brew cycle, turning it off and on if necessary to completely empty the reservoir. Repeat this 2 or 3 times with fresh mixture of vinegar and water until it brews the reservoir empty without the need to cycle the power. Follow this procedure with plain water 2 or 3 times to clean the vinegar out. This should get it working like new again. It's best to use distilled water for brewing coffee as distilled water does not have the minerals that regular tap water has and therefore will not clog up the machine.

Red light won't stop flashing. Parts are in place

Be sure all coffee grounds are cleaned from beneath the water tray and the grounds tray and the coffee brew group. We had the same problem but finally redid everything, including cleaning the coffee brew group under hot water, drying and replacing carefully until it clicked in place. The moving parts of brew group have to be in exactly the right place. Good luck!

A couple of people on here mentioned he filtration system, or charcoal filter that is in the
