Cant play dvds on my pc

you have to download a program or a software that plays or are able to read dvd file formats inorder for you to play your desired format. try to download vlc media player

are you able to atleast view and play the files in your computer?

if so then there is no problem with the recorder.

what is the format in which it records the files?

if there is still the installation file left in your comp. for the DVD ram thn uninstall and thn install it again.,..... it will be fine

You can install another DVD player software.
there are plenty of free players on the internet that you can download, or you can buy one at your local software dealer. Once you install this, the newer video codecs should be installed

Solution:
Well i could recommend another free video player instead of Windows Media Player 11. In this case, try installing Real Alternative, VLC, GoomPlayer all lf them support DVDs format.

I recommend Real Alternative over all 3 of them, to get it go here:
1) http://www.videohelp.com/tools/real_alternative and click on the "Download (mirror)".
2) after download is complete start the installation make sure to UNCHECK the following checkmarks during installation: Active X, and pluggin for firefox/opera/chrome/etc. you can leave the rest of the installation as default and click next all the time.
3) whenever you want to play a DVD close WMP 11 start Media Player Classic (installed during the real alternative installation, there should be a shourcut icon on your desktop for Real Player Classic now) on Media Player Classic go to File>Open DVD and you should have picture and sound.

Another extra side note of Real Alternative is that you can also play real media files (.rm, .rmvb) without having to install the nasty Real Media Player application

This is due to windows problems. Please try repairing your windows by doing which your windows will restore its system files for DVD driver and hence you will be able to access DVD.

Do you mean DVD movies wont play? If so you need to install DVD software. Use Google to search for some or buy some e.g. PowerDVD.

try to put another dvd or cd disk if one of them is working that means your dvdrom is ok and if none of them works your dvdrom has a problem.

Just wondering if you have tried a good DVD Cleaner and see if that Helps you out sometimes the optics on the laser gets so much dust it can't read the DVD and will more than likely read CDs but not DVDs Try that see If it works. I have the same computer and two burners in it, and have had the same thing happen just a good cleaner and I was up and running,
