Not brewing Machine has suddenly stopped brewing although power looks normal and we have cleaned machine and reset the 4 bars indicating it needs to be decalcified. We may have waited to long but we can't decaldify if it won't run water through the basket. Do you know why this machine would suddenly stop brewing? It is less than a year old!

  • imnlytnd Sep 13, 2007

No - if you push the button twice it should brew immediately. It just sits there. Any other ideas?

  • imnlytnd Sep 16, 2007

Thank you! I will call Delonghi and see if I can find a service center. Dang machine - it is less than a year old and it was $129. Starbucks shouldn't be selling such crummy machines...we would never recommend this one.

Hi
You must make sure that the brew unit is ready to reinsert into the machine. To return the brew group to the centered position, you first need to drop the funnel. To do this, look on the opposite side of the brew group from the handle. At the top you will see an object that looks like a sharks fin. If you follow this piece down you will see 2 horizontal bars on the brew group body. Push your finger between these 2 bars and the funnel will drop. Now you can push the puck slide on the left side down and to the center. If you look down through the funnel you should see a piston. This should be centered in the funnel. If not, locate the slide on the left side of the brew unit, (it should be hanging down, a flat rectangular piece attached to the cylinder) and push the slide to the right until it does. Push the press button and you are now ready to reinsert the brew group in to the machine. First you must close the door with the drip tray and dredge drawer inserted and turn on the machine without having the brew group in. You will hear the motor turn on and when it stops completely, open the door and remove the tray, and dredge drawer, now replace the tray and insert the brew group. If it still won't go in check the cog in the back of the machine. There are 2 wide teeth that should be at the 10:00 and 12:00 position. If they are at a different position you have a broken drive gear.

Motor stuck in brew postion wont reset even with the brew group out

Hi
Leave the brew unit out but put everything else back in and then turn the machine on. the brew drive should reset to where it should be so you can put the brew unit back in, but make sure that the brew unit is ready to install.
If you have you key you can insert it in the front of the brew unit. There is a round hold in the center below the "Push", and twist it clockwise until it stops and the 2 marks are lined up. If you don't have your key you can do this. Push the puck slide on the left side down and to the center. If you look down through the funnel you should see a piston. This should be centered in the funnel. If not, locate the slide on the left side of the brew unit, (it should be hanging down, a flat rectangular piece attached to the cylinder) and push the slide to the right until it does. Press the "Push" lever until you hear a click and you are now ready to reinsert the brew group in to the machine.

Red descale light is on

I use distilled white vinegar, but you can use specialized coffee cleaners with this model:

Descaling
Descaling 11
Descale your Tassimo machine every three months to keep it
operating at full potential.
1
Descaling products are widely available from stores selling coffeemakers and espresso
machines. Only use a product intended for descaling. Mix the descaling product
directly in the water container, following the instructions provided on the descaling
packaging. Replace the water container on the machine.
2 Place a large cup or mug on the cup stand, insert the cleaning disc, bar code down,
and close the brew mechanism. When the AUTO light illuminates, press and release
the start/stop button. The brew cycle will fill the machine with descaling solution. Empty
the cup and let the machine stand for 15 minutes.
3 Open the brew mechanism and close it again, leaving the cleaning disc in place.
When the AUTO light illuminates, press and release the start/stop button. When the
machine stops running, empty the cup, and let the machine stand for 15 minutes.
Repeat this step two more times for maximum descaling effectiveness. Discard the
remaining descaling agent from the water container, rinse it thoroughly and refill
with fresh, cold water.
4 Open and close the brew mechanism again, leaving the cleaning disc in place.
When the AUTO light illuminates, press and hold the start/stop button to flush water
through the machine. The MANUAL light will flash. When the cup is full, release the
start/stop button, empty the cup, and replace it on the cup stand.
5 Repeat step 4, flushing clean water through the machine in the same manner and
emptying the cup as it fills. To ensure that all the descaling solution is completely rinsed
away, flush two full water containers through the machine before using it again.

Won't brew

bring white vinegar to a boil and pour it into the perforated top, the water reservoir and the link between the water reservoir and the brew basket. let sit a few minutes, pour it out and do it again.
put the water reservoir back in, put water and vinegar solution ( half and half) in. Try to start it again. Mine did this last year and this fixed it right away. Try to clean the coffee maker using the vinegar solution once a month to avoid this problem.

Saeco stopped working during process

jammed brew unit, possibly also damaged gears.

Do not keep turning the unit on at this point, cuz it can damage it even further.

Has to be sent out for service, be sure to tell them to check gear system and mention jammed brew drive.
