When i insert a disc into the dvd player it immediately spits it back out it takes it in for like a second then it automatically ejects it. I have tried to reset the eject button but it doesn't work. Any suggestions?

The DVD-RW will work at random, some brands will wok better than others. Memprex, Sony, Maxell are 3 I can use sometimes. Once the disk is accepted it must be formatted. Click that and if accepted, first do a record for say 2 minutes to see if ti works.
If it works don't take it out until you're ready to finalize it. That's mostly so the disk will be readable in other players, should it not want to go back in, you probably lost the record. Don't write on the back, use a card and keep it in the cover.
Sometimes I can use those disk's in PC for data. regards
Shut the machine down. Find the original CD or a retail OS X installation DVD. Start the machine up and immediately hold down the option key. You will see a icon of your hard drive. Now insert the CD or DVD. If it immediately spits out, your optical drive needs replacement. If it does not, click on the U-shaped arrow button to rescan the drives. If the CD/DVD does not show up, your optical drive needs replacement. If it does, choose it and boot from it. If this actually works, you may have a software problem -- this is low probability, but possible.
Keep in mind that the CD and DVD read heads are separate. If one of those is malfunctioning, your drive will accept CDs but not DVDs, or vice versa. If you see this behavior, your optical drive needs replacement.
im not resposible for anything here but try this. stick another disc in only about half way or as far as it will go up to that point. when the loading mechanism in the player sees another disc trying to come in, it pops up to accept the disc. it should spit your stuck disc back at you while holding the new disc in your hand.
Hello, First be sure your using the correct disc DVD+ or DVD- RW etc.
I would recomend using high quality discs as players/recorders are very picky about cheap media. Try using Imation name brand discs. They read well in most anything. If it has worked fine & then started having this problem I would first check to see if your using the same discs that have always worked with it & if so then you may want to open the unit & clean the laser lens with a cotton swab lightly soaked in rubbing alcohol. Especially if it has been smoked around or is in a dusty environment.
