Brother mcp 6980 colour ink printer shows a paperjam code on the display. There are no paper stuck in the printer. No pieces and the sensor is working wonerfull so please dont say I must check for these things. What I would like to know is that is it possible if the rollers are the reason and which one. The engines are tested but the top roller(made of metal) turns very difficult. Might this be the problem?

SOURCE: Paper jam with Brother HL-2030 laser printer

Being a retired electronics technician, I located and downloaded a copy of the service manual. Then proceeded to hunt for the reason why the Paper LED was staying on. I put the printer into the Production diagnoses mode, then by process of alimination opened and closed each panel and cheack each sensor switch one at a time. At which time it was apparent the problem was the rear door sensor. So I started to disassemble the printer getting instructions from the Service manaul, as most electronic equipement there is a sequence process to accompliah this. and once I found that the method of the rear door sensor operated I found the bracket was not in the right position. I put the sensor bar back into it's proper position and put the printer back to normal opperateing mode, I found my problem was solved. So I reassembled the unit and plugged it back into the compter ran a couple of test sheets and cleaned and aligned the printer head(s) made a few adjustment and everything was back to normal.
I must say that locating the Service Manual was a feat, but worth every cent I paid for it which was $9 USD. Personally i think all service manuals should be available for all Brother products for a fee, then a large number of problems can be fixed by the owners without much bother to Brother.
I ahve two of these printers and would still purchase a Brother colour printers, my next purchase is going to be a Brother color laser printer. Out of all the printers i've used on my computers I like the brother the best.

SOURCE: epson sx600fw displaying paperjam, No sign of any jam

did it happen after physically cleaning/flushing the head? I've had this a couple of times and clearly no jam. I removed the cartridges again, ran the rollers backwards and forwards a few times using the white gears, and powered up .... it recognises no cartridge present so went through the replacement again and the fault then clears. I think the s/w gets its knickers in a twist Printer is a heap of poo, and clearly designed to use asmuch ink as possible as it needs cleaning far too often. Wasted too much time on gettingit to print

SOURCE: Brother MFC-9840CDW Tray 1 paper jam

The problem is the spring that is located below the lever right in front of the clear plastic roller has lost its spring. If you remove the spring and stretch it a bit it will resolve the problem.

Lexmark T642 Printer giving me a paperjam error#241.10. There is no paperjam

Normally this is caused by either a small piece of paper stuck in a sensor or a bad sensor. Lots of times printers use optical detectors and it may just have paper dust causing a sensor to think there is a stuck piece of paper. Give the printer a through cleaning and let me know what happens.

Showing paperjam

Hello there

This may work for you, it has worked for many here I given this advice so gave it a try it could work for you. Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.

First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.

If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there.

And gave the rode that the ink slides on a good clean and maybe a bit oil on cloth and wipe the rod with it.

Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

Printer keeps saying there is a paperjam but theres no paper in it

Hi,
Sometimes when a paper gets stuck in the printer after removing it a little piece could be stuck in the sensor of the printer. Try opening the top cover of the printer as if you were going to remove the cartridges and check for any little pieces of paper or for anything that could be causing a paper jam. If you do not find anything it could mean a bad sensor or the printer not function properly if you want you can reset the printer here are the steps on how to do that. http://www.bit.ly/aAwUQh

I have a paperjam on my colour laser printer CLX 3170 and I dont know how to get to the paperjam inside the machine

Step 1
Turn the printer off and on to see if it can automatically clear some or all of the jam. Many printers provide an error-code listing on the front panel display for the area where the jam occurred. If your printer shows an error code, be sure and check the printer manual to see if that identifies the area of the printer where the jam occurred.
Step 2
Turn off the printer.
Step 3
Remove any paper trays. Inspect them for wrinkled or damaged paper.
Step 4
Open any other doors that give access to the printer's paper path and to the toner or ink cartridge.
Step 5
If necessary, remove the toner or ink cartridge. Place it in a bag or away from light to avoid damaging it.
Step 6
If you find a piece of jammed paper, remove it by holding it with both hands and pulling firmly. The goal is to keep the paper from tearing. If several pieces are jammed together, try pulling out the middle piece first to loosen the jam.
Step 7
If the paper does tear, try rotating the roller gears manually to free the paper. Don't force anything, though.
Step 8
Replace the toner or ink cartridge and paper trays, close any doors you opened and turn the printer back on.
Step 9
If the printer paper jam message still appears, then there is still some paper in the printer. Inspect the paper path once again.

Says paper jam but NO paper is in the machine

One problem i found with those printers is that over time the casting around the paper tray is wearing off and printers starts to show paperjams when there is no paperjam.
One way to fix is try and positions the paper tray better or perhaps raising it a bit with piece of wood or paper.
Cast unfortenately is too expensive to replace so if this doesnt work and you are sure there is no paperjam and nothing obstructing the sensor then replace the printer.

Printer wont pull paper down then says paper jam

Dell does not make printers. They put their name on Lexmark printers.
I just repaired a 926 which had a paperjam alarm...and no paper jam. The paper sensor microswitch had been bent up onto a paper roller so the printer thought a piece of paper was stuck under it. It was hard to get the little lever off the roller and back, hanging free, without breaking it. This did not happen on its own so I can't fault the printer.
Look for this tiny black plastic lever hanging down right in the middle of the upper paper rollers, just behind where the carts run.

Printer errror!

From looking at the online manual, http://pdf.textfiles.com/manuals/FAXMACHINES/Brother%20Printers%20Intellifax-5750%2033.6%20Plain%20Paper%20Fax.pdfthis seems to indicate that there may be something stuck in the printer paper path somewhere. It mentions a paper clip... A small piece of paper, any foreign object could be caught . Another possibility is that a sensor is either defective, or, if a mechanical (like a switch) the lever which activates the switch might be either jammed, bent, broken, making the system sense an error, when actually there isn't one. You should take a very careful look inside the printer, using a good light to help look in the paper path for some abnormality. Maybe you will get lucky and find!
