Since you declined to specify the model of your Uniden phone, I can only direct you to select it from the list beginning at
http://www.uniden.com/scat/cordlessphones_mnl to download a copy of the manual.
Depends which, some press and hold the hang up button (the one you use to end a call) for 2 seconds, others you press and hold the star key ( * ) for 5 seconds. any further problems contact their helpline on 0845 345 9677.
Since you neglected to specify the model of your Uniden 5.8GHz cordless system I can only suggest you select it from the list beginning here to download the manual.
The Keypad Lock Icon is seen on top of the screen at various positions depending on the number of icons displayed. An Open Lock signifies that the phone’s keypad is unlocked and a closed lock signifies that the keypad is locked. You can unlock the keypad by pressing Unlock (by right soft key) on the phone, followed by the Send (GREEN) key. Similarly for locking the keypad, press the End (RED) key, to be followed by the Send key.
The user guide for your phone does not indicate a default pass code. Most default passcodes are either 5 or 6 zeros. Some are 12345.

I just did the same thing. Press and hold the # button until you hear a beep....this should unlock the keypad and the lock sign will disappear. Its a good function to have when you have kids around.....they cannot dialout except 911 but you can still ake incoming calls.
this is wrong product & not what I asked for!!!!
