My router doesnt seem to be Broadcasting the wireless connecition!
First of all sorry if i dont use correct technical terms but im not all that good with this stuff.
I have an SMC router connected to our main desktop computer which has the direct access to the internet thru a Cable modem. the desktop computer connects to the internet with no problems.
we also have 2 laptops in the family which could connect to the internet through wireless connection with no problem up until a few days ago. I thought the trouble was with my Dell Inspiron 6400 but seeing as my sisters laptop doesnt connect either... i figured it was the router. ive tried connectiong my laptop to the router directly with a network cable and that doesnt work either, although if i unplug the desktop computer from the router, my laptop works! it seems as if there can only be 1 computer working with the internet at a time and its REALLY frustrating!
can anyone PLEASE help me! Im desperate!!

Re: My router doesnt seem to be Broadcasting the wireless...
It may be that the router is not assigning ip addreses properly, and is duplicating the ip address on all pc's. or you have done the windows diagnose and repair or detect problems.
Go to the properties of each wireless card in control panel>network connections and on the TCP/IP line click propertes again and ensure obtain ip address automatically is checked.
Also go into the routers settings and ensure DHCP is enabled to give all pc's an automatic ip address.
Restart all pc's and your router (not Reset) and you should get renewed ip addresses and be able to connect.

It seems you are having issues with the router. As you've said your PC can detect other wireless networks except for wireless network that you're supposed to connect into. Try contacting the technical support team of the manufacturer of your router so that they can check it out, it might be a defective router.
Make sure all the connections are secure. try plugging the laptop into the network cable directly and see if you can access a web page to verify that the laptop is working as it should. Try to connect a different device wirelessly to the router to see if the router is broadcasting as it should. Is the router broadcasting a SSID? Does the router have an antenna and is it attached correctly? Try to reset the router and connect.
Check to make sure your wireless card is enabled in the BIOS. hit f10 or the toggle switch @ startup. go to Devices in the BIOS and check to make sure both options for your wireless card are turned on. I had this issue with the tc1100 with the 2200bg intel wifi card.
Is there any security on the wireless network ? I think the wireless network might be secured and you are not typing the correct password. Or the router is not generating the IP address ot the computer. You will need to check the wireless settings of the router Click Here for more info
enter password and click save or apply at the bottom. I have seen routers that dont keep the password, it means the routers firmware is mal-functioning, or in technical terms, its broke. You can try factory resetting it by pressing the reset button in the back for 30 seconds, its by the where the power plugs into it, but i have never seen this correct the problem, but theres always a first. If it doenst work, then you need to get a new router.
Reset your AX by holding a pin or pen tip and count to 20. Plug Airport Express Wait a few minutes
1. Open Airport Utility 2. Manual Setup 3. Airport Icon -> Wireless Mode -> Join a wireless network 4. Network Name -> Enter the SSID of your Linksys router 5. Choose the same wireless security that you are using on your Linksys Router 6. Wireless Password -> Enter the wireless key that is on your Linksys router.
In the Music Icon, you should be able to find "Enable iTunes"
AX will continue to blink for a bit, perhaps a minute, while it searches and connects to the Linksys Router.
Please confirm the manufacturer and model for the router being used?
The router in the heading of this message does not appear to have
Secondly in terms of your sisters machine assuming it has an ethernet port have you tested it using the cable just to make sure there are no (software) firewall issues on her computer affecting access to access the internet.
Sorry I have no Nintendo DS knowledge specifically. I may try to research the issue after the router and laptop issues are resolved.
Are there any other wireless devices (computers) currently working correctly with your wireless router/access point?
