Asus M2V Audio problem

Audio stopped working. Updated, rolled-back and reinstalled Realtek ALC660 audio driver's. Obtained "driver genius" program, installed it's recommended driver. no joy.
If i go into the Realtek program and test the speaker's, they work fine. If i run dxdiag then test the sound through that then i hear the "test" audio fine. If I go into windows XP Control Panel - Speakers/Audio etc it shows no device (I am using the integral onboard audio, not a soundcard)
If I try the audio test in the windows XP Control Panel - Speakers/Audiothen it says "no driver"
Device Manager shows Realtek HD Audio to be working fine.
BIOS setting for HD Audio is "Auto"
Till recently, there was a small icon on the task bar which showed a speaker (not the red realtek taskbar speaker icon) it was a small grey speaker icon which i used to right-click then mute if i needed to but now this icon has disappeared. Any ideas?
no audio need driver

After using Driver Genius my system audio device cannot be found. Everything I can check reports normal function except there is no audio device found.

You might have updated to an incompatible driver. Not all new drivers work on all devices. Realtek drivers for example often are incompatible with specific devices, where you need a driver from the PC manufacturer. The Realtek driver will install without problems though. Just no sound anymore after that.

Try rolling back you audio driver.

My audio on my pc is not working says no audio output device found i have a hp paVILION A6177C DESKTOP RUNNING WINDOWS VISTA

The problem here why there's no audio device detected on your system , the software or driver for the audio device is not installed on your computer system, so that's what we're going to do.
I will provide you here a link for the direct download of the audio device of your computer, so just download the audio driver and then once done you need to install the software. This is a executable file so once done downloading run the software to automatically install it to your computer and finally restart the computer to complete the installation.

Here is the link for the audio software that you need.

I m having asus k8v-vm bt no space for sound card

The Asus K8V-VM motherboard has an intergrated audio chip on the motherboard, Realtek ALC660. You need to enable it in the bios. If you do not have you're manual down load it from Asus; http://www.asus.com/Search.aspx?SearchKey=K8V-VM You'll also need Adobe reader installed to view the manual. Enter the bios menu. Open Advanced. See the top of page
2-21 in the manual. Set, High definition Audio to [Auto] Save and exit the bios. Also check out page 1-19. You can install the driver software from the Asus CD or download it from the Asus link provided above.
Realtek Audio Driver V5.10.0.5211 for Windows 2000/XP/XP 64bit. (WHQL)
