Good luck, get a repair quote and get them to pay. probably $20 dollars at a camera store just for them to send it away for you.

I think I know just the problem. The connection cord that came with the wall outlet charger can only be used for charging. You have to have the original apple cord in order for the computer to recognize it.

I had the same problem.

did you drop it cause this sounds like its been droped
when you droped it the circuitry became jared and broken you need to replace or repair
