what you want is not possible. the Epson Stylus Photo 1290 does not use sublimation ink. it is strongly advised to only use genuine Epson ink to keep the print quality of your print head as high as possible.
Joy:
Once more have the printer to perform the ink nozzles cleaning.
If you are using a ontinuos ink system, place it at the same level than that of the printer.
With the printer in the "replace carrtidge position", put it OFF and by hand, clean the place at which the cartridge rest.
Good luck and merry christmas

Well, since you say you'll be using new cartridges you shouldn't have
any nozzle problems. About the worst case I can see would be the slight
chance of getting too much ink on the paper resulting in wet paper and
a stained platten roller. Seems like an interesting experiment over all.
Nozzle problems arise when reusing cartridges. The very thin metal film
that is the nozzle assembly gets worn down as the print head moves over
paper and after a number of pages printed the little holes that are the
nozzles get larger making for fuzzy, wetter than it should be, streaky
printing.
This happens to me very occasionally. Shut down the computer completely, unplug the usb cable from the computer and reinsert. Unplug the usb cable from the printer and reinsert. Switch on the printer. Start up the computer.
I ve been having the same problem with my Epson 1290 and Windows Vista! It works fine but I cant get the status info on my ink levels. Its so annoying when u run out of ink the LED on the printer goes on but you dont know whick cartridges to replace! I hope Microsoft and Epson get this sorted out because it so annoying and I end up spending more money on inks than needed! I read someone had similar problem, installed the 1290 M driver (via Vistas set drivers) but it didnt work for me!
Ratt,
Please uninstall all related Epson Stylus Photo 1290 softwares, drivers etc. and also clean registry by using any registry cleaner. After going through all this, restart your OS and reinstall your Stylus Photo 1290. If this doesn't solve your problems, then please try this.
Steps:
1) Backup all your important document from where you've install your OS (e.g. c:\)
2) Format the drive where your OS is installed (e.g. c:\)
3) Re-install your OS in fresh.
4) After completing your OS installation, install your printer.....
GOOD LUCK !!!
Did u clean the print nozzle's as well? If that does not solve your problem, you should try and replace the cartridge. (Colour in case of blue lines and black in case of black lines)
the colour cartridge is new, the black almost, the tape is removed, ink does come out of the nozzles onto my fingers!
After changing the printhead the print head goes through the motions of
printing but no ink comes through
Are these new cartridges? Did you remove the tape from the cartridge that covers the head?
