Question about Canon PIXMA iP6700D InkJet Photo Printer
Usually, it only takes on at a time. there should only be 4 colors: Cyan, Yellow, Magenta and Black. Some printers have 8, one set is very small which is used for the printhead, but, they are still the same combo of colors. In that case is the only time you will have 2 of each color a small one for the printhead and a larger on for the actual printing.

After approximately one month of ownership my PIXMA ip6700D printer came up with the error message, "more than one ink tank of the following color is installed (photo cyan)" and later another error message that "the following ink tank (Photo Cyan) cannot be recognized". Talked to Canon support and after removing and reinstalling the six ink tanks and the problem did not correct, they said the problem is most likely the PC ink tank. Replaced the PC ink tank and the problem was corrected. But it has only been two days since replacement. I will wait a month to see the final results.
Mine says I have two black in cartridges installed and I don't. Â If I take out the black ink tank and reinstall it it goes away until the next time I use the printer, then I have to do it again.Â
I have same problem on yellow ink shows error more than one ink loades so I take it out and replace it several times before it kicks in
I have a iP6700D which continually reports more than one photocyan (PC) cartridge installed even though that is clearly not the case. There is one of each I'm not a ******. I have tried cleaning the contacts, reseating the cartridge, removing whole print head and nothing seems to work. It appears to be progressing too as now I can't print at all (it used to work after a couple of tries). Hopefully someone sorts this thing out.
I get exactly the same problem - An error message appears saying that two of the same cartridges (PC) are installed, when I have all 6 of the correct cartridges installed. My solution is to turn the printer off and then on again. Sometimes it clears the error - sometimes I have to do this several other times.
An annoying fault for an otherwise great printer.
I have the same problem and it is also causing another error (A600) to come up. It is very annoying!
Same problem. I get u071 which was rectified for short periods by turning pritner on and off or re-seating the cartridges (Yellow). I replaced yellow and it worked for a while and then the same problem occurred with the Cyan cartridge. I get U071 error each time now and none of the tricks on this site work. I will replace Cyan with new cartridge and see what happens.
Same thing with cyan - initially going on about there being two installed - used to work after I lifted cartridge out and put it back in again - then eventually said it couldn't recognise the cyan cartridge, again lifting it out and reseating it usually worked. But gradually took many more tries before it would start printing - today is the first day it JUST WONT PRINT. Plenty of ink left in cyan but just not having it...
I have the same problem with my magenta and photo magenta. Bought the printer early this year and have used it half a dozen times. I really need help since I don't feel like paying for shipping to have it looked at.
I got this printer for Christmas 2006, and a few months later the error messages started. I get the same error message each time I turn my pixma 6700 on. I have to turn it on/off repeatedly until the message goes away. Very annoying. I rarely use this thing.Â
