Repair My receiver stopped working after a thunderstorm. Installation screen comes up but there is no satellite signal strength. All other receivers in the house are working and moving the Samsung receiver to a known working location produces the same result. Is there a Samsung authorized repair center in Florida or an exchange program of some sort?

I have Dish 322 receiver. Everything was fine; a week or so ago satellite 119 reception was spotty, now we can't get 119 at all. We get 110 but only about 34%. Sometimes the receiver will power itself off...

It looks like you have lost the signal for the 119 satellite from your dish. Are you getting an error message, either 002 or 015, saying the satellite signal has been lost or acquiring satellite signal? First, check the cables on the back of the receiver to make sure they are secure. You can also run a check switch test to see if there is a problem between your dish and receiver.

Press the Menu button on your remote. This will bring up the Main Menu on your TV screen. Input the numbers: 6 (System Setup), 1 (Installation), and 1 (Point Dish). On the right side of the Point Dish screen are 3 buttons. Select the Check Switch button. Within the 2 large boxes are satellite numbers and green or red boxes. Make a note of the satellite numbers (should be 119, 110), the trans, the device, and switch. Super dish and alternate should not be checked. Select the Test button on the bottom of the screen. If a box pops up with a warning about TV 2, select Yes. It will now run the check switch test. Let it complete the test. After completion, the screen will automatically go back to the Installation Summary screen. You may get a message stating that the Check Switch test has found fewer satellites than previously detected. If you get this message cancel out of each screen (do not save the results) till you are back to the TV screen and it is acquiring Satellite signal.

If you don't get that error message, see if the information on the Installation Summary has changed. Then select Done on the next 2 screens and cancel out of the others till you get the message, Acquiring Satellite Signal. After it finishes acquiring satellite signal and downloads the program guide, see if you are getting a picture - try different channels. If you still have problems, please email me at, [email protected]. If you are still experiencing problems, we will need to send a technician to fix the problem.

710 frozen on tom-tom splash screen

1. Activate the TeleType GPS program

2. Select Tools>GPS Status>Status.

3. Look closely at the GPS output that is displayed in the View Status menu. Data should be flowing even when the GPS receiver has not locked in the position.

The data string that begins:
GPGSV... is "bad data" because the receiver has not locked into the satellites.

Whereas:
GPGSA... is "good data" indicating that the receiver has locked into the satellites. Remember - "A-Okay"

4. Once the data is flowing, go outside away from buildings, select the Satellites tab (Tools>GPS Status>Satellites), and watch the satellite signal strength

Black screen

Possible causes
  • Your TV is not receiving or displaying the signal from your DIRECTV® Receiver.
  • Your receiver has correct guide information, but is not processing video correctly.
  • You are viewing a channel where an upcoming sporting or special event is scheduled or has recently ended.

Solutions
  • Turn TV off and on.
  • Make sure light on front panel of receiver is lit.
  • Press the "TV/DSS" button on the remote control or front panel of the receiver (not all receivers have this option).
  • Reset the receiver by unplugging the power cord for 15 seconds.
  • Check all cable connections between the dish, receiver and TV.

If the picture is black, but the program title and description display in a banner the top of the screen:
  • If the problem is only occurring on a few channels, check the detailed description of the program through the on–screen guide on those channels. Often, we display a blank screen with a banner before and after a high–profile event to alert customers about the event.
  • Reset the receiver by turning off and unplugging the power cord for 15 seconds.
  • Run a signal meter test to check your signal strength (press "menu" and look under "setup" or "installation").

If your signal strength is below 70 (or below 60 on HD receivers) in clear weather on transponders 1 and 2, see our troubleshooting steps for "Searching for satellite signal. Please stand by." You may see zero strength on transponders 4, 12, 18, 20, 26 and 28. This is normal in many areas. Your system manual shows how to run cables and point your dish.

Hello! Dan Busa with Dish Netywork here intermittent signal loss like that is usually caused by some sort of glitch a hard reset ( unplugging it for ten seconds ) will usually resolve this. If your signal strength is at or above 80 that should be fine, but keep in mind you need good signal strength on both the 119 and 110 satellites ideally you should be at 70 .

MENU PICTURE ON TV BUT NO CHANNELS

This is a problem with weak signal strength, You will need to find a better place to put your television so it can receive enough signal to operate correctly. If this does not solve the problem, you will need to check the satellite box for problems with receiving the signal from the satellite. You may need help from the satellite company to check the signal strength output and input levels to make sure its working properly. I hope this information helps you solve you problem with the loss of satellite signal in your television. Thank you for using FixYa and have a nice day!

Error message 771

searching for satellite signal means its not getting a connection between the satellite and the receiver itself. you can check on the back of the receiver where the satellite cables comes in, unplug the satellite cable make sure there is a copper pin sticking striaght up there to make sure its getting a good connection. also if you know where your splitter is, it has a few lines coming in and a few coming out, its somewhere between the dish and the receivers. usually in an attic or basement, or it could be at the dish itself. make sure those lines are tight, no cracks or breaks in the lines. also if your dish is easily accessible check the connections at the dish to make sure none of them have come undone or loose.

Reciever Not Recording

Turn off the receiver, unplug the receiver, wait 30 seconds, plug it back in, and go through the setup again. This hard restart clears the memory and restarts the DVR software(clears any software glitches) This should fix this problem assuming that your satellite signal is good. Check that during the resetup. Most transponders will show between 70 to 100 signal strength. (Minimum is 70 for error free reception) Several transponders will show 0 as they are dead on the satellite, and not a receiver problem) If your satellite signal is in the 70's or less, you either live in Maine or you may need to realign the dish or something is blocking the signal like a tree or bush growing that is partially blocking the signal causing the signal to drop out(partial recordings)
