I have the exact same problem. Was watching tv when I came home from work. Went to go out and get something to eat, tried to turn the tv back on and nothing. No lights in front nothing. The tv is only 3 years old. Somebody help!

Power is available, but T.V. will not turn on.

TV is also 3yrs old. Went to turn on and it made a sound like it was going to go on but nothing.

My problem is similar to the other person who stepped out for something to eat and returned to a TV that is roughly 4yrs old and it won't turn on. My TV's red light came on for about 1 second then immediately turned itself back off and never turned back on again. There were no obvious signs that my TV was going bad. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check fuses first, then look for something open in power supply like resistors

Sound but no picture

As a former television technician for a well known electronics store. This problem can be one of many problems. It can be a short of the main board, the y or x boards (either sus or buffer). But the most likely issue, since you still have sound, is that the panel went bad.

No picture / No Sound / No nothing

that sounds like the Hi voltage transformer went bad.. If your a tech simply disconnect the horizontal output transistor and see if thats shorted. If it is then it is for sure the HV transformer. If its not shorted look in the main power supply. Its cost is around 40 bucks or so and the transistor is about 15 to 20 bucks. This entire repair should cost ya around 150 to 175. So if you decide this tv is the one you like then have it fixed. Good Luck
