Question about Rival SPS180

Open Question

Availability of the Rival SPS180

I have been looking for a stainless steel electic stockpot with a stainless steel cooking surface (not Teflon)and have been unsuccessful in my search. If I could find one, I'd buy six of them as we bought a Meyer cooker about 30 years ago and would love to replace it and buy one for each of my five children. They have also been looking for one. The Rival SPS180 would be perfect but I'd be happy with any brand that meets the description above. Thank you, ddomenic

I am looking for a stainless without teflon electric stock pot 6 to 8 quarts. I have a Presto but it is teflon lined and I don't like to cook in it or use plastic crock pot liners. The Rival SPA180 looks perfect. Is it available, and if so where and for how much?

I have searched the Internet, shopped at BB&B and no luck so far.

SOURCE: replacement liner for rival 3860

I have a 6qt oval Smart Pot (SCVC604-SS) and cannot find the black stoneliner either. I have been checking with Rival for almost a year and it still back ordered. I called again today 3/27/08 and customer service finally told me that the do not know when they will be getting the replacement liner in because they are made and shipped from over seas and they just do not know and it could take several more months. What they are offering because they have many customers needing this item and that it has been out of stock for several months, is a discount off a new one. The price they offered me for my model was 34.34 shipping is included, so only tax was added. The total price was 37.17. So right now you can only continue to wait or order another one for almost half price. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Rival Model # 3150/2 3 1/2 qt. crock pot/ slow cooker circa. 1984

I have a brown stoneware liner for model 3150/2 3.5 qt. crock pot that is in perfect condition. I was looking for a lid since my chipped beyond safe usage, and I threw it out. I am willing to part with my faithful liner and the outer part as well which worked wonderfully last time I used them (earlier this month - June 2008). If you are willing to pay $10 plus the cost of my shipping it to you, let me know at [email protected]

Do you lock the lid while cooking?

make sure u DO NOT lock the clips while cooking, its not a pressure cooker. if you lock the lid the heat and pressure from whatever you are cooking causes an air-tight seal and the lid will shatter or the ceramic pot it self will crack...

Im looking for a glue that can be used on a porcelain cup for coddling eggs. The cup gets emersed in boiling water to cook the eggs so the glue must be heat proof and water proof. But also it must be food...

Without any hesitation I would say that you should avoid a all cost to attempt to repair or glue this type of material. I only know very few specialized industrial glues that can be used in this environment (heat and humidity). Do not risk getting burned. You need to find a mecanical solution. Glue is just not robust enough.

Teflon peeling off inside pan and going into the food

Teflon is very dangerous. I discovered this when I got birds. Teflon is so deadly that if it is even slightly heated (by having a pan in the drawer below the stove) by having the oven on, it kills birds - immediately. It becomes airbourne and is that toxic. I know of so many examples of bird's dying from it. Can you imagine how tramatic it would be to be cooking and your bird drops dead. I had to get rid of all my pans because of them. And I'm glad for it. So it would be, not deadly, but not great to ingest for humans. Teflon is also in some heaters so its good to check that too.

The teflon coating in the cooking pan is coming off

Well if you just purchase it. I would try returning it , and explaining your defect to the customer service agent. Or contact the company who makes the product.
