Does not drain & makes a loud buzzing sound(KENMORE 44042)

While i was doing a load of laundry i heard a sudden loud clanging/scratching sound coming from my laundry room. i ran in to see what it was but by the time i got there the sound had stopped so i thought nothing of it other than a possible zipper getting wrangled in the dryer. when my laundry was done i noticed that my clothes were still drenched in water.took out my clothes to see a pool of water in the drum that had not drained. i took the drain hose and put it over a bucket where the water then proceeded to drain out, thereby emptying the drum. i then ran my washer w/o clothes in it to test the cycle and see if it still did not drain. IT DID NOT DRAIN. while observing the whole cycle running,i noticed that it would at times make a loud buzzing noise that it never used to make. it seems that the times when water was supposed to be draining were the times that the buzzing sound would occur. what could be the problem and can i fix it w/o calling in a repairman? if i do call a repairman, can you guesstimate how much it would cost?

When you get the buzzing try pressing the door hard when it is closed. Open the door and slam it shut hard. Examine the black projection on the door and the mechanism it fits into to see if anything is broken or it does not close well onto it.

Lost user manuel. The washing machine (44042

bad news, mostlikely it's the spider gear and that means new washer time.using to much soap does this.it eats at the rear bearing and actually breaks it off and that's the sound you're hearing the basket has no rear bearing to ride on any more.you can first check to see if the shocks are broken, but most of the time the shocks break because the rear bearing is gone but check that first,i've found some with just a broken shock from overloading the washer.good luck and sorry to give you the bad news, the spider gear costs around 450 to 500 hundred bucks

Loud jet noise in spin cycle on Kenmore stackable top load washer

it is the drum bearing seal and it has gone out and ruined the bearings, you would need a lip seal kit and appropriate bearings for that particular unit,i do a lot of maytag front loads and it can take anywhere from 2 hours up to 8 hours depending how the old bearings come out and the damage to the bearing and seal surfaces, the sooner you get to it the less chance of severe damage it will cause, because water will kep on destroying bearings till they lock up and destroy the drive pulley

MY WASHER WILL NOT SPIN. iT MAKES A LOUD BUZZING

Sounds like a broken motor coupler for sure, the motor shaft will still spin the drain pump, but drive between the motor and transmission is lost. Part# 285753A. Have fun. If you need breakdown info let me know.

The machine is not spinning or tumbling, i went through the diagnostic test and that was the only thing it did not do. my understanding is that it is a belt that should be the problem how do i get at it?

I have the same washer and problem. I've had mine for just over five years with no problems, but I've had other top loading washers for as many as 12 years. I solved the problem with the Kenmore 44042 as follows:

1. Remove the washer from the laundry room and move it to the garage.
2. Go to Lowe's and purchase a Roper top loading washer for $300.
3. Install the new Roper in place of the Kenmore 44042.
4. Create and sign an agreement with yourself to never purchase another Kenmore product.

Dryer was running with full load of clothes. Heard a loud pop twice, ran back to the laundry room and smelled like something burning. Turned dryer off, and now it won't start back. Also, the very top of...

Well it sounds like a sound I have heard... forgetting that I had a cigarette lighter in my pocket and having it explode from the heat in the dryer. But you say you heard two loud pops?

Once everything cools down, check again and report back... does the dryer not turn on at all? Does the light come on when you open the door? Does it buzz when you push the start button? Stuff like that.

Microwave makes loud buzzing sound when on and no heat

Have you tried putting a cup of water in it and cooking on a low power level? If it buzzes only when it is on the cook cycle, that would narrow it down. More detals might help us help you, including the model number.
