Question about Hoover F7431-900 SteamVac Vacuum

1 Answer

Steamvac quit spraying

Hi.... I am cleaning my carpet and everything was fine the "first round". I emptied the dirty water and refilled the clean water reserve and when I tried to pick up where I started, the sprayer won't spray. I cleaned the black filter, checked the rubber washer, and can't find out what's wrong. HELP!! THANK YOU!!

Check the seal that the clean water tank sits on, may have come loose. The filter inside the dirty water tank has been pushed up too far, needs to have a 1/4 in. gap from the top to the top of the filter.

Hoover brush and wash instruction manual

Hi there! To prepare for cleaning, put the solution and water in the top tank. While cleaning, all the dirty water gets sucked into the bottom tank. To clean squeeze trigger to release cleaning solution and slowly push carpet cleaner forward, this equals one wet stroke. Continue to squeeze trigger and slowly pull carpet cleaner back toward you (second wet stroke). Release trigger and slowly push carpet cleaner forward over area just sprayed with solution (dry stroke). Then slowly pull carpet cleaner back toward you without squeezing trigger (dry stroke). To avoid saturating the carpet don't do more than 4 wet strokes over one area. Always end with dry strokes. Here is a link to view the instruction manual if needed.

Wont **** dirty water back out of carpet and it has nothing to do with the lid not being on properly, just no suction...

Please check and see if the round gasket is on the round vacuum pipe under the hood, that contacts the dirty water tank. It should be a soft seal that touches the round open cylinder on the base of the dirty water tank.

Water does not dispense on wash cycle

this would be the soap/ water valve. it is stuck closed or isn't opened.( no cure for an non-opened valve, just replace.)

Hoover Upright Steam Vac, 12 amp

  • Check to make sure that the lower dirty water lid is installed and secure and not cracked.
  • Check to make sure the front duct panel is installed on the dirty water tank (this will transition the water from the front nozzle into the tank)
  • Check the filter in the dirty tank lid, clean if necessary
  • Remove the lower tank and look at the motor cover, locate a round hole, you should see a black ring (gasket).
  • with the lower tank removed, turn the machine on to check suction at the round hole, if OK then your problem will be with one of the above reasons

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. It sounds to me that you may have a clog or a vacuum leak in the vacuum line. The suction should be able to pickup the water into the holding tank for you. So please feel free to contact your local vacuum dealer or you can use a wire coat hanger to try to unclog the vacuum but if that fails contact the factory or your local vac dealer. . So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
