SOURCE: My Makita DCS520i chainsaw will not shut off. I

Hi,

OK. The kill switch breaks the circuit to the plug. Since you replaced the kill switch, assuming it is good (did you test it with a multimeter?), the problem has to be in the wiring to the plug from the switch. If the plug gets power all the time, then the circuit is complete all the time.
I'd replace the wires from the switch to the plug.

Hope this helps. If it does, I'd appreciate a 4 thumbs up. Thanks,

Handie Andie

There's 2 sets of numbers on the coil. The top i know is a part # but not sure about the bottom it's MA-15 1435 it's a Walbro coil

Rick, easiest just to order a coil by using make and model # of the chain saw.
MA 15 does show up a replacement Walbro coil.
Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

How to ignition time this?

The ignition timeing on all modern chainsaws is controlled by the flywheel magnets, the flywheel key, and the core of the ignition unit, so other than checking the key has not sheared, and you have the correct air gap between the unit and the flywheel ( 0.3mm ) that is as much as you can do.

My Makita DCS520i chainsaw will not shut off. I replaced the kill switch and that did not work. The wire and connections look fine. I assume the ignition coil is ok since it starts fine. Anyone know what...

How to start a gas makita 14"concretemetal saw

The strarting procedure is much the same for all chainsaws/power cutters, switch the ignition on, pull the choke fully out, depress the deco valve if it has one, lock the half throttle button if fitted, crank the engine until it fires once ( it will not run at all on choke ), do not continue to crank after the first fire or you will flood it, push the choke fully back in, crank the engine until it starts.
