Open the back cover and check that there is nothing stopping the sensors from connecting correctly, if everything seems to be clear i suggest removing toner&drum then getting a can of compressed air and blowing around the top hinges with it as this is an area that tends to collect dust and excess toner Hope this helps Cops

Back cover open message although cover is closed

Open the top and back covers. If you see any jammed paper or
other item, gently pull it out, then close the covers. If the error message
remains, open and close the covers again. If the FAX/MFC cannot reset
itself and return to the date and time prompt, it will display MACHINE
ERROR XX. Please call Brother Customer Service
and tell them the Machine Error number at:

Back Cover Open Close The Back Cover Is Message I'm getting. What is the Problem?

Open the front cover and remove the drum and toner(cartridge).

There should be a paperjam in the machine. It reads back cover open because the piece of paper is covering the sensor for the back cover.

Jammed paper

There are 3 places to check for jammed paper.

Turn off the fax machine, then remove the tray and open the back cover, and open the front cover to remove the drum and toner (cartridge) and look inside machine.

After you find the jammed paper put the cartridge and tray back in machine and close all the covers.

Error message should go away.

What is Error 2200 when I try to fax something?

Error 2200 is a scanner stall error.. there are a couple things for you to try to fix it:

Power off the AIO and remove the power supply(Power Cord) from the back of the unit.
Open the scanner cover. Check the scanner glass for cracks and the scanner casing for cracks. Close the scanner lid.
Open the top cover of the AIO.
Using the carrier belt, move the cartridge carrier to the middle of the unit.
Remove both cartridges, close the top cover, reinsert the power supply, and power the AIO on.
IF THE ERROR MESSAGE DID NOT COME BACK....
Power off the AIO and remove the power supply from the back of the unit.
Open the top cover of the AIO.
Using the carrier belt, move the cartridge carrier to the middle of the unit.
INSERT THE COLOR CARTRIDGE ONLY,
Close the top cover, reinsert the power supply, and power on the AIO.
IF THE ERROR MESSAGE RETURNS.. GET A DIFFERENT COLOR CARTRIDGE AND REPEAT THIS PROCESS....
IF THE ERROR MESSAGE IS GONE,
Power down as before, do all the same to get the carrier to the middle of the unit and RE-INSTALL THE BLACK CARTRIDGE.
Power back up as in previous steps...
NO ERROR? SHOULD BE GOOD TO GO..
ERROR?? TRY DIFFERENT BLACK
If after trying all of the above and the error message does not go away, you unit would need serviced (if it's under warranty, it's worth it; if not, you might want to replace it.)

Brother MFC-7220 says "close back cover" but it's closed

Have you tried this solution by joefishny:

Turn the machine around so that you are facing the back. Open the back cover. Pull down the second

smaller roller cover inside the machine. If you look closely at the second smaller cover, on the right hand side (closer the the inside of the machine), is a very thin round piece of plastic that is only half the

length of the smaller cover. There are 2 thin plastic tabs attached to either end of this round piece of

plastic. Gently shift this over so that the 2 plastic tabs can now go into the space provided for them. I had to move mine over only 1/4 inch.

Canon jx500, getting 'check 5100'

I had this problem and solved it = )
You turn off the fax, take the paper out, then open the cover just after you turn it back on.
Leave it open for a minute and let the cartridge go back and forward close the cover and wait till it tell you to press stop and it should be back to normal.
Hope this helps

Hp 7410 officejet all in one

--close cover ---means the lower base of the printer is open the cover you open when to remove or insert the cartridges.that is not related to copy or scan cover which is above that.just close the lower covwer little bit tightly.apply gentle force or push to make it close properly.
do it carefully.

thanks.

Error message-Close the back cover

It appears that you have a broken back door have a look on the door to see if there is a broken piece of plastic as when you shut the rear door a tab pushes against a push switch letting the machine know that the door is closed. if you cannot see a broken piece then the switch it faulty try this by push a flat screw driver on the switch and check if the message disappears.

Thanks J
